Hm, I can only see it spinning clockwise, and already knew that I was right-brain dominant. Try as I might I couldn't perceive it spinning the other way. I was a little suspicous about this so I downloaded the animated .gif and checked it frame by frame. At least in the version I downloaded, there is no optical illusion and no chance of interpreting the frames any other way. The picture I downloaded IS turning clockwise. If I'm wrong and there's some hidden counterclockwise imagery, I'd be very surprised.

strange...I wonder if it's accurate? anyway, it would seem that I'm more right-brained.
this is pretty neat if it works.

I'm very right brained. But unfortunatley I am also very left. And the two halves are constantly fighting!

My brain is messed up. I see her going counter clockwise first then clockwise after a few seconds...but I knew my brain was messed up to begin with. It could mean 2 things...my brain is always in conflict or I really am using both sides, but lean more to the right.

oh wait - i see what it is
i dont think you can make it look like the other. the figure is obviously spinning to the left. her left leg is lifted and she is leading the spin with that leg
something turning left is counter clockwise
but VISUALLY her limbs are moving to the right when they are closest to you
if you look at her from the head down she would be turning counter
if you looked from her feet up she would be turning clockwise
does the fact that i have analyzed this so much say i am left brained?

...ugh...I'm feeling nauseous. I think the right-side of my brain just threw up all over my left side.
I totally can't see it turning counter-clockwise in any way. I'm so right-brained, I put this thing in front of a mirror and it still turned clockwise.

visually she is turning clockwise because the extended limbs that would be closest to you are passing by from left to right
but at the same time she is turning to her left. something turning to the left is going counter clockwise.

The amusing thing about seeing her spin clockwise is that her ponytail is leading against physical law, as if it's a film running backwards.
Oh well, I never had much of a brain for pirouettes. Give me that weird angular modern dance stuff any day. You don't need Dramamine for that.

foot to knee, knee to hip, hips to chest, chest to head--she's turning clockwise. I just can't see it.

Actually she doesn't switch. It's just whether your brain thinks that it is her right or left leg up. I do it by imagining what her spinning the other direction to switch my perception of it.
The key area (ironically my favorite area) is the ass. When the lifted leg passes the down leg, you actually have no visuall clue as to which one is up due to the thickness of the straight leg.

I saw it spin counter-clockwise for a good while. That's pretty cool.
what did it for me was looking down that the "standing" foot's reflection. it was much easier to "accidentally" see it spin ccw...then I look up and sure enough she looked completely opposite. still right dominated though.

i hope no one thinks her right leg is raised
if so, hold up your thumb and index finger in the shape of an L. whichever hand looks like the L is the left

I can't imagine how this could be perceived as spinning clockwise!

I saw this a while ago on moillusions.com. I think it has a better description of how to get it to switch if you're having problems:
"If you look at the spinning girl's silhouette below, you will think it is spinning clockwise, probably. When you check her shadow below, momentarily the spinning direction changes in your mind, and now the girl is spinning counter-clockwise. It can be quite hard at the beginning to notice switch of the spinning direction, but eventually you'll manage."

I was obviously wrong about the "no optical illusion" thing, but it was based on viewing still frames, in which the orientation of her limbs doesn't change. Maybe I should have been staring at her Queen Amidala asset to get the full effect.

Yeah, if you look at a still frame of when the legs are crossed, you can see that the legs could be pointed either way.
