I used to get so riled up when someone would admit to being this successful...but now it just makes me want to work that much harder...a much healthier way to look at it, no?
BTW...i work in the fine art world here in NY...and when someone buys a work of art, they can do whatever they want with it unless they sign some kind of agreement with the Gallery, artist, or auction house they buy it from.
If Gargamel, Rotofugi, or anyone involved wanted this kept together there would have been a contract with the sale stating as such...but as far as the public is concerned, this is a frame that the buyer didn't want...we may not see it that way, but this is how ST viewed it...and now that I read what he felt, I think it is better to be on a collector's wall and be appreciated than sitting in a box somewhere...

I'm guessing there's a handful of Big Pimpin's around here. A certain fellow Florida resident comes to mind.

What I think is funny is that everybody just bought the story without any corroboration.
(I am married to Marisa Tomei, you know.)

Since light degrades color, why would anyone keep those wonderful mini zags in the display? Looks good now, but in a couple years?
Aren't those zags made in the exact same glow colors that the Bwana killer set released in limited supply at SDCC '07? Must be a few more somewhere in Japan, probably sitting on a shelf. Makes you wonder.
As for $$$, it does not buy respect, nor inject wisdom. There are plenty of very wealthy people on this board every day. In San Francisco, most homes cost around $1 million or so.
Concentrate on toys; that's what we are here for. Better he sells the display that simply throws it out, huh?

eh, I've been called worse for much less.
you have something against offering a piece like that for sale here, or just chiming in with your own brand of douchebaggery?

I am thinking on buying this for my store to house gargamel merch. I am wondering if there is anyone on the board that is going to bid on it. I don't want to drive the price up on someone else (or vice versa). Anyone?

anybody who still drives an '87 toyota is pretty cool in my book.
I'd still be driving my '91 intergra but some jackass rear-ended me recently - totally the car. driving a piece of shit car is awesome in terms of freeing up extra cash for toys - until the thing breaks down.

Nope.....just meeting "douchebaggery" with further "douchebaggery". As for being called worse? No doubt in my mind.
