I took off from work today; my sister and her girlfriend are up for the weekend. We spent the day cleaning out my woodshop, in prep for a floor which will go in there over the course of the next week. Very soon, it will (*finally*) be transformed into a real studio space.

Now we're making dinner- salmon steaks, brown basmati and steamed, buttered golden beets- while we discuss how we're gonna hit the town tomorrow night to celebrate my b-day (Sunday).

All in all, it's been a good day.

Yum! Happy Birthday to ya!

I cooked Chilean Sea Bass from a Gordon Ramsay recipe this past week that turned out super-delicious. You basically oil and season the fish, then bake it on top of a bunch of herbs with some carmelized lemon slices, the whole thing wrapped loosely in a foil tent. So good it didn't need any sauce. Ramsay may be obnoxious on TV but dude knows how to write home-cooking recipes without being all snooty about it or requiring you to go out and buy kitchen tools you've never heard of before and can't pronounce the names of.

Tonight I'm making Blobpi Tempura. Mmmm ... vinyl!

Going to see Ian Hunter from Mott the Hoople tonight - only US date and it's in freakin' Milwaukee! Go figure. I'm sure this will only be significant to the (ahem) older members here, but I'm pretty excited.

Maybe sous-vide blobpi? After all, it is the winning way of cooking in this past season's Top Chef...

Hm, maybe steamed Blobpi in coconut sauce with bamboo shoots and really hot chilis to honor Hung's win then. Or maybe Blobpi Vindaloo to honor Padma Lakshmi's divorce from Salman Rushdie. Hm, decisions...

Definitely NOT Blobpi Colicchio. That guy's sandwich joint SUCKS!

Welp, left work an hour earlier than usual (it was super-slow, so I didn't think it would be a problem, but after leaving, got the call from the boss saying 'what time were you scheduled to today' type crap), came home, played some Team Fortress 2 for a while, now I'm chillin' and thinking about getting some tofu pad thai from the place up the street. Mmmm.

Did I really just type that all out as one sentence? Oh well. I don't feel like correcting it.

Hope you're feeling much better now dude. My stupid joke wasn't to make fun of your getting sick. Food poisoning is the worst!

Speaking of crunchy vegan stuff, I was too busy today to leave for lunch so I had a bowl of this granola stuff that we stock at work, bit into it, and part of one of my teeth broke off and fell into the bowl. I now have this incredibly uncomfortable half-tooth in its place. My greedy dentist's wallet is about to get even fatter, argh. That does it. Never mind the tough Blobpi. Tonight dinner will be MEATLOAF!

Wah.
