Thank you for that. I may be a card-carrying capitalist, but I wish that retailers weren't allowed to Christmas-tize everything until, oh, December 15th or so. December 1st even. If I were a practicing Christian I'd probably feel even more strongly about this. Keep that sleigh bell muzak away!
Nice colored lights and pine smell, though.

I can't tell if that was agreement or disagreement, but for what it's worth, of course I think stores should be able to sell what they want, when they want. My error was my use of the word "allowed." Just venting. I liked Christmas when I was a kid but don't care for the forced/Pavlovian retail "spirit of giving" thing on principle. Charity and gift-giving should be sincere and not tied to a calendar IMHO, plus all the tacky Christmas retail decor this early in the year ... bleh. I also realize that I may be projecting more on Frank's post than anything he intended LOL.
I think I'm going to play "Santa Dog" by The Residents now...

i'm all for the commercialization of xmas though.
Xmas! YEAH!
but yeah, i dont need a holiday to remind me to be nice to people.
not sure that is the store's intentions in setting up displays already though. they just want a little scratch before anyone else

Last year I was in Japan in mid-December and the Christmas music and crap was everywhere. And I thought I'd be escaping from it.
Over there, apparently the trendy thing to do for Christmas now is to find a girl who will go on a date with you to McDonald's.
