it was pretty good. I didn't really like the style at the beginning. I realize it's because they don't have footage of him as a young boy, but I didn't really like all the clips of random stuff to help convey the message (Animal Farm for instance)

it got better once it got into the years where there was actual footage of him

Yeah looks like it will be great.

'Control' looks good as well. Story of the Ian Curtis of Joy Division.

this was ok, but a bit on the long side, and there is a weird theme that it takes forever to explain.

some cool cameos by celebrities talking about him made it interesting. The director could have used some basic doc. standards to make this better though, like putting people's names/relationships below them. No one was introduced. There were people I still left going "so was that a friend, or girlfriend, or what?"

Overall, a nice overview, but a lot of unnecessary and sometimes baffling stock images like animal farm and old movie clips in place of the nonexistent childhood footage. worth seeing, but definitely not the best doc. i've ever seen.

amazing none the less. a lot of unexpected cameos and a lot of previously used footage, but still worth seeing / owning.

Bit of a tangent - I had the tv on in the background and thought I heard something familiar...sure enough, it was Tha Clash cover of "Pressure Drop" on a Nissan commercial. Don't know how to feel about that. Eh...it's a good version but the original Toots & the Maytals is better.

How many people here saw the Clash? Any incredible shows? I saw 'em three times and to my huge surprise, the best show was the third, at one of those old mammoth "Day On The Green" concerts at the Oakland Coliseum, after "Combat Rock" had come out and "Rock the Casbah" was all over America's radio. They were opening for The Who's "farewell" tour concert LOL ... I think it was '82. For some reason that show totally clicked and the band was spot-on throughout. Although it was cooler to have seen them earlier in smaller venues closer to the original Punk days, they had some technical problems at the earlier shows that sort of put a damper on the whole thing. Weird. Normally bands' live shows get worse as they become more mainstream. Anyway, Strummer died too young. One of the last great rock stars. Lookin' forward to the movie!
