 painting questions
--when you have eyes that are part of the figure's sculpt, so you paint over them with a base coat then go back and apply v-color with a small brush? if so, is it hard to keep brush strokes out of the paint?
or would you mask the eyes if you wanted the color the same?
--if the figure has glued on eyes (like some RxH), do you remove the eyes for painting or mask them? how do you mask an eye like that if so?
--do you take figures apart to paint them?

Yes, Chaos Man. Most of them have the scarfs and are a I FART A LOT to find, but there's a handful w/o scarfs that aren't tooooooooo bad to hunt down, a fleshish-pink colored body w/green paint and one that's metallic purple. You could just swap his head and a Mutant or Evils head too if you get a cheap enough set (flesh I'm thinking.)
Than make a Papashango Ryusie, he's got the skull!

well, i bought the flesh RXH set #2 and will make my own chaos man
i had a dream last night that i made the kamala custom made already, so hopefully i can get it to happen in reality
there is a chaos man element i think is pretty common that i am trying to work into it in a new way
so yeah... about those original questions...

Okay so here we go..
1.) Like I said no base coat is really needed. Just do you entire job and then finish with the eyes. And if you paint v color with a brush it will take a few coats until it fully covers and holds. Paint V color with a brush can be tricky.
OR if you like the way the eyes originally are just mask them like you mentioned.
2.) NO RxH figures eyes are glued in. So if you have a chaos pop off his head and push the eye back out.
3.) Some times I take them apart and sometimes I leave them together. It all depends on if you want over spray.
No get to painting

got another question
painting with v-color and got a drip on the figure's arm. since it dries so quickly, there was a rough place left. how can i smooth that place off? acetone seems to take off the black pigment but leave a clear film underneath that leaves the area still rough. do i need to strip the whole arm?

I would think it would stick, but I wouldn't let any kids play with it in the tub though... not sure how toxic the stuff is.

As long as it's vinyl, it should stick.

I have a comment but I'm gonna keep that one to myself...hehehe. Instead, from whatever I learned about glues and paints in college, I'm guessing this "ritarder" that pickel is talking about is an agent to slow the drying of the paint. If that's the case, then my guess is that it should be mixed in with the paint you'll be using. The amount you mix in is dependant on how slow a drying process do you need in order to achieve the effect that you want. If what this is what the "ritarder" is (aka: retardant: noun; any substance capable of reducing the speed of a given reaction), you might want to try it on something other than a toy....like say...an old record (just kidding).
