This was a store inquiry in the store section not a "issue".

Thanks

hey guys,

on invoicing emails, i usually dont have time to send an personal email to everyone accounting for whether or not tax applies, whether an item is to be combined with other orders, shipping etc...

i usually type one email that covers mostly everyone and just copy and paste it. im sorry i cant make a specific email for everyone, i just really dont have the time. if there are any concerns or problems, dropping me an email will clear it right up.

on the topic of shipping, however, i dont have all the exact numbers figured out just yet, but rates may go up depending on what you get and where you are. we are working on a model that will take the size and weight of the item, as well as the shipping location into account when generating the shipping cost. the $8 shipping rate that has been used for a long time, just doesnt cut the mustard. if you live on the west coast, that's sometimes about right, if you live on the east coast and are paying $8 for shipping, we are likely losing money shipping to you. postal rates for priority mail are high, plus insurance adds up quick. then, that postal figure doesnt even address the cost of supplies and labor. ill post more about this later as it develops, just a heads up for now.

so, if there are any questions or concerns about shipping costs, toys, your favorite band, good restaraunts in s.f., or anything at all, please feel free to email me, and ill do my very best to help.

thanks!

Noticed it when I got the email from Josh for the Junkspot Chaosman.
Makes a not so cheap toy even not so cheaper if ya get my meanin. :(

It's cool and I understand if the increase is to keep from loosing $$ on shipping but still stings alls the same from my end.

I have noticed that shipping is going up & have also noticed that S7 often ships in boxes way oversized for the product. Figures in smaller (yet perfectly safe) boxes can be shipped for much less.

Oh I don't know,, take the KT Kai-Zine Chaosman that just came on pre-order. $35.00 + 15 ems = $50.00 And I don't usually just buy one item so as to save on shipping.

Like I said. I understand if prices go up too keep up with costs but still,, puts a dent on the ole cc/bank account/etc. whe you add up all the purchases. And stuff don't usually come out at the same time from the same store.

This reeally doesnt matter, its about the weight. And up to a certain weight its gonna be the same price. So usually a box about twice the size wont add that much more weight to bring it to the next weight limit up.

The dimensions of the box does in fact factor into the shipping cost.

And no I didnt take your comment in a negative way, just figured others were going to ask the same thing so might as well do it in one shot.

Yeah, dimensions and weight both count. I just build shit up into 1 nice big box Celga style with S7 since I'm on the East. Works out fine.

guys,

the reason we use the size of boxes we do, is that the USPS supplies priority mail boxes at no charge. therefore, we have three set sizes to work with. the smallest size is a crunch for a RxH figure. I used to use those all the time, but a lot of folks were unhappy with their figures being smooshed, so we use the next size up, which is a bit too roomy for one figure. we certainly could get boxes that fit each size figure perfectly, to get an accurate as possible postal rate, but then the cost of the box would be added in as well.

shipping is expensive, we do our very best to keep it as low as possible. we could also ship regular mail instead of priority, but then we would have to pay somebody to haul all the boxes to the post office and wait in line all day, as priority is the cheapest option available online, which would be reflected in the shipping price.

believe me, postage is something we have put a lot of consideration into, and we are still researching other solutions. it would be great if we could just give everyone super cheap toys with free shipping, but that just isnt realistic. please hang with us, we're doing our best.

I used to need to get my new toys right away but the shipping costs have made me choose the "celga style" option as well...I have been waiting until I have a pile of paid merch over there and then have it sent out together...it ends up saving mucho money that I can end up spending on another toy...it's better than letting it go out into the ether and getting nothing for it, right?

just takes some patience that stuff you paid for is sitting in S7 and not in your displays...but it does help with the shipping costs cutting into your toy buying...

I think you postage rates are really good. I would rather have my stuff packed in a larger box with heaps of bubble wrap & beadies than in a smaller box (corner dinted) and contents damaged.

Well from someone in the shipping industry, just want to say you can order boxes cheap, from Uline and other sites and still ship them priority mail and save most people a couple bucks. The post office white square boxes are really not free, there is a flat rate in which the the postage for priority and the box cost is lumped together. Its a good deal if you are send a heavy object that will fit in a 10x10x10 (bowling ball!) at a flat rate but a couple vinyl toys... its not so good.
Just giving you some direction if you wanna look into it.

we actually get three sizes of boxes from the post office, and only one is a flat-rate box. i usually turn those boxes inside out as well to keep the postage lower. we do get other sized boxes from uline as well, and while they are not expensive, there is a cost which needs to be factored in. we also recycle packing material whenever we can, using the paper and foam and what not that things come shipped to us in, to reduce the expense of bubble wrap and packing paper.

believe me, we have looked into and are continuing to look into every way possible to keep shipping affordable. the bottom line is that postage, supplies, and labor cost money. it would be great if we could offer the kind of breaks a large company like amazon or something can, or send somebody to the post office to get slower and cheaper postage than is available online, but it just isnt realistic.

i know boutique vinyl toys can get pretty pricey, and paying shipping on top of the cost of a figure can seem like a lot, but we are doing our very best to make this as painless as possible.

So I 2 think the prices of shipping are outrageous considering its 8 bucks per fig where it should be 5 and then when I add another one its 16 and it should still be 5-7 or 8 max. Its not stopping me from ordering from you guys its just with all the cash of extra shipping costs I could prob buy myself another fig if I were to add it up.

Untill you guys figure this one out, or even keeping this policy after, but in leu could you, like many other stores do, consider a spend X dollars get free shipping policy?

Thanks guys

Dont get me wrong I love your store but this is a true inconvenience

I think recent shipping cost is way too high
$8 per single item no matter what the size is
2 minifigures - $16, same price I pay to KT and this includes $10 handling fee!
no offence here, but I would definitely like to see s7 shipping cost being a little more mmm... adjustable
