She probably knows price, but not quantity. Although my full display case is sort of a giveaway.

Sort of...
My wife's aware of how much the individual peices are but she hasn't taken the time to add the prices up...if she did she would probably prefer me spending the money on diapers.

one day, she confronted me and had to tell her how much exactly i spent on the past few months.
all sweaty and embarrassed and all, explained it to her how much exactly--wifey didnt talk to me for a few days and got her worried.
we then agreed to set a monthly budget on toys---now its all good.
im so lucky i've got an understanding wife!
now, she too digs bxh, le merde and some gargamel stuffs

Not really "hiding" anything. I don't have secret bank accounts or credit cards, she CAN check this stuff, she chooses not to. Or if she does, she doesn't tell me.
It's more like if it's not said, and everything gets paid = no complaints. All's fine. If something goes wrong, ie - I spend TOO much or a big hospital bill hits I have NO problem selling stuff to make up for it all and have done so.
She almost NEVER notices something new, and she has such little interest that going "hey look! something new! it cost X amount!" has no point, she doesn't care THAT much. Plus she's seen me sell stuff to get new stuff, so she knows I have no problem making up the money if shit hits.
ALSO It's not like I'm buying drugs or liquor or hookers. It's all innocent junk, no one's hurt. And when she wants/needs something, no questions, she gets it.
But again, she doesn't ask, I don't tell. And the bills get paid, and foods on the table and all that crap. All are happy. No shady-ness involved.
I don't think anyone here is ruining their lives/keeping huge hidden secrets with this stuff. I hope not at least. I don't lie to my wife, maybe I don't tell her how much I spend, but she really doesn't ask either AND she knew what I was when she married me, a toy freak.
ps missy- this isn't really directed at you personally, just addressing the issue as a whole.

Lucky. My wife only SOMEWHAT digs my Gargamel stuff. She hates the Anraku (it's ugly) and is neither here nor there on RxH or most anything else. But she likes them ALL more than my Star Wars stuff.

my wife is cool - it is an even trade between skin care products for her / toys and sneakers for me.

My wife knows. As long as she likes the toy and I don't hide shit from her she doesn't mind. You gotta be honest or it will bite you in the ass. Spending some money on her/him doesn't hurt either.

I basically set myself a budget every month, money that's not needed anywhere else..I have my own account that I use for my addiction(toy's)I still set aside a gracious plenty every month for retirment, colledge funds, savings etc...She never even looks at my toy's unless I show her somthing that I'm really stoked about..I really don't know what she would say if she knew what I spent on this stuff, sometime's I think she would go apeshit and then again she might not say anything....All in all I guess as long as were paying our bills and not neglecting our household or children were doing tha right thing..The only thing I can really say that my wife bitches about is how damn long I stay on the computer.

After comic-con a lot changed for me. My Fiancee fell in love with the toy world. She would never collect but she's totally into me getting stuff. She bought me a few toys at comic con and even bought a print by Bwana. She loves his stuff and got excited when I got a few killers(those are her favorite). The only time she gets mad about toys is when we have some bill or something that comes up and I've been short, hence all my previous sales
But honestly I'm on a pretty straight track now and she backs it up. She's already got our passes for comic-con 08 and she's waiting for the hotels to open for that time period. I'm pretty lucky I'd say.

My wife and I are best friends, in every way, and we have been for over 30 years. She definitely does not share my interest or love of the vinyl toys, and doesn’t' understand it, but she respects my collecting interest the same way that I respect some of her interests that I don't share. It is a give and take, like any good relationship has to be. Honesty HAS to be there. You don't lie, or hide things, or twist the truth for your own purposes with your best friend, better half or not, IMO.

You put this well. I couldn't go through the day without saying "hey check this figure out" or "how does this look on the shelf over here?" .
He's even gone to NY for toy events with me. As we've talked about, he likes macs and cars, i like toys and macs, we both love Disney.
It's a mutual understanding of the other person. I could never hide that from him. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night.

I imagine that all the time...and I follow my dreams to the fullest.
she doesn't know numbers, but she knows that it's probably unreasonable. she doesn't really give a rat's ass about the toys, so she shows no interest in the cost of them just the same. works for me.

My girl just moved in a month ago and she's known about my toy habits, even found them "cool and interesting", but lately I've felt as though she is rather annoyed with the whole process (being online, searching, buying etc etc- hey you gotta dig sometimes right?). My one stipulation when she moved in was "Don't ever ask what I do with my money!" She definitely abides by it and even will ask me for ideas (which always are toys) for my b-day and x-mas. Sometimes I get the feeling though she's sick of it, then a toy will pop up in the mail and she'll say it's the most beautiful thing. I never know. We each have our own finances so so far it's not been a problem.

After already outliving a whole bunch of friends and relatives my wife and I both share a common philosophy . . . we realise life is all too finite!
If you can't buy whatcha want or do shit that makes you happy/gives you a buzz then you're wasting your life . . . as long as food is on the table, gas is in the car, all the kids are happy and healthy, we ain't carrying major debt and what we do doesn't affect anyone else . . . why worry!
Too old to 'live fast - die young' . . .

After my father passed away, this... Scary Andy wrote: If you can't buy whatcha want or do shit that makes you happy [...] then you're wasting your life ... is basically how I've lived. I've collected a lot of things ever since I was little -- comic books, ToyBiz Marvel action figures, McFarlane toys, luchador masks, and in most recent years, CDs and Japanese toys. My ex, who I was with for over 4.5 years, knew approximately how much I spent, and the average cost of one toy. She hated everything about it, it seems. From the time spent on this board, to the boxes showing up at the house, to the money spent (which she would rather have had spent on her, I'm sure), and everything in between. Walking on eggshells while still trying to hide your excitement for something is very trying. The next girl will be OK with my hobby / passion or I simply won't be with her. I don't want nor need that shit again.
