 Dokuwashi Inquiry
Does anybody know how many of the Pink & Black Dokuwashi's were produced...?
I believe the pink was a lucky bag thing & the black was a proto sooo...

75 black prototypes were released.
Not sure about the pink which was released painted and unpainted.
edit: 25 handpaints of the pink

The Black is still my fave of this sculpt...it just rules...I turn the base around and like it even better...has a strange Deco feel in shiny no-paint Black..i posted this pic somewhere before ...but while I have a sec Ill post it again....seems like the Doku isnt getting much love now
While I dont know if the Black no paint can be topped...I do think Shapes Metallic Doku sprays are working better than the factory paints

To me, the Dokuwashi has a Tiki feel to it.
Um, so what is the story with the female figure in the center??

Tiki...true...Tiki-Deco...now thats cool.
The Mermaid was givin to me by a girl from Columbia while I was helping on a project outside San Cristobal...it originated on the Forbidden Isla de Cuba and is carved from the Blackest of Ebony wood. The wood so hard her skin is shiny smooth like glass.
As soon as I got the proto Doku...I knew I needed another to flank her on both sides.

Sold my black Doku just a few days ago. I wanted to collect em but follow up colorways seem to be few and far between. No reason to sell em now since you practically have to give em away. My fav tho is the SDCC ver.
Most deff looks good with full paints.

Eldorado,
That is a sweet setup. The mermaid figure is unbelievably cool, and fits so well with the Dokus. Thanks for the great pic.

Sure KJB glad you like it...someday I will getta good digi camera and post pics more often...its just I hate bad pics...so its kinda hard to post them LOL!
Im really into Polaroids because of this direct magnetic reflection shit Im into...like LP's and Valve/tube Amps .....analog sound.
I hate digitals for anything but web use and really hate them for shots of humans.
Dont even own an ipod or mp3 .maybe 1% of my music collection ison CD..LOL!
Anyone that likes the Doku...but maybe not the sprays should check the black proto out.IMO there is something special about it.

Agreed el. The solid shiny black works really well for the sculpt. I have a weakness for Brian's detailing on the head in the hand-paints and SDCC versions too though. Evokes Mexican sugar skulls to my eye. Also wanna add that your display and the photo are great.
I wonder if there will be any more Dokuwashis?

I was told there were some production frustrations ... something about how the segments fit together IIRC. This was several months ago, though.

I can see that - the neck on my pink lucky bag one is definitely shorter than on the black and SDCC ones; not by much, but it is noticeable. Still love the sculpt, though, and I hope there are more.
