I guess it doesn't...I just like it when I'm scouring the internet on older sites and see something like..."what the fuck is that!?". If I can't find any info on it anywhere then it becomes this cultish, mystery piece. I love that shit.

Given how customs have proliferated, I think it will be very valuable in identifying which items are production pieces and which aren't.

I vote yes!

I think this is a great idea and started to do something similar to this on my own site, granted my site sucks. Haha. I think it's cool that S7 is taking charge becuase that means it'll be solid.

Any time frame for this?

Thank you S7!!!

i hear ya on the mystery thing but as someone else already said, it will be nnice to see things i didn't know existed to add to my ever growing list....i mean, just doing the dokugan list, once i thought i had them all down and identified, then 2 or 3 others popped up that nobody has seen....this way i dont go around thinking my cllection is complete (when it gets to that stage) becasue i know now that there are 3 reallly hard to find ones and that will be mystery enuf....where to find them!! :)

Has to be a web application database of some sort that allows searching, updates etc.
To do it with a forum, while a nice idea, would be difficult to update and search and drill down to a single figure.

On a related note, I think eventually this BBS board software will be supplanted by these social networking sites with plugins and mini apps. You'll have your own homepage space, personal calendar, assorted other junk in an online world where you can join or host discussions. You'll be able to embed movies, audio and other stuff.

Imagine a facebook style skullbrain? Now that would be fun. You could goto peoples pages to see all the new goodies they have haha.

It would make it easier to identify who was on skullbrain next year at SDCC also, and then you could make sure to pass your number onto someone besides them.

There's actually something similar for those um... bunny toys we don't talk about. It's really well done.

An archive is THE most logical evolution/addition for the board and would be soooo invaluable!

I vote yes - but i agree - half the fun is running across something you've never seen before - either a figure you didn't know existed or a color variant you've never seen before. There's also something to be said for paying your dues - spending the time to learn about this stuff, hunting down japanese reference guides (yuji's book, dash 6, etc.) - the work involved in the hunt is an important part of the allure of collecting.

On the other hand, almost all this information is already out there - between Club Tokyo, the books, Super 7 Magazine, manufacturers' websites, etc. so all the database would do is pull this info together in one place.

That is one of the best things about collecting Japanese toys.

online toy figure database that will live on this site with almost all the main toy manufacturers and visual checklists of everything they have made to date

 :!:  :!:

'Daunting task' hardly seems to cover it - this task is Herculean. K-T makes no pretense at having complete lists, they show only the ones they have ever had FS.

One comment above that I consider worthwhile is to include the Japanese characters for at least each manufacturer's name, if not each sculpt.

This is Big News indeed Brian, though by now not surprising to find that the folks at S7 are laboring to fulfill fans' needs before they are even expressed.

Thanks (again) to S7!
