the folds on the top looks to be oragami, folding the square shape into a sort of puckered finish, the kind you sometimes see on japanese gift boxes

great idea, so so execution, in my opinion. i like the idea of printed paper guts and pipe cleaner bones, but its not an automatic success. these particular inserts just dont seem to jive with this particular figure.

I emailed Mark back and requested to purchase the painted version. I wasn't really feeling the clear version so much but the painted looks a ton better. Hopefully I'll be able to get it.

The painted is much nicer, but painted clears always sell me. Still gotta pass, too much stuff. Gargamels new stuff, RxH junk, Blobpus guts OI! Hopefully this doesn't prove to be impossible down the line, but it seems enough folks dislike it that I should have a shot one day to add it to my "guts" collection.

That just might be the crappiest paint job I've ever seen on a production toy. Just my opinion. I'd take the unpainted ver over that poo poo any day.

They should have bit with a teal/green translucent color with inserts (or some colour variation, say purple) like the Gargamel Smoking dude or the Smogun. Both were coloured clear vinyl with inserts and rock hard (in my opinion).
My initial reaction is WTF on the painted one.
I LOVE the Gargamel toys with paper inserts so I am liking the clear with inserts.
Trying to warm up to the painted one.
I don't understand all the hate about paper inserts.
