 LASH vs. Skullwing :)
Well what do you do when you cant afford a red skullwing and your an artist ???
Make your own
Well not a replicate but similar. I really LOVED the colors but not so much the gold.
I had an extra black & white horror varient so I started and finished today
Plus I wanted something to go with my pushead companions
What do you guys think
I will take more pics in the sunlight tomorrow

I suck a taking pictures so it looks so much different in hand.
I will take some pics in the day light next to my other skullwings and hoepfully it will look beter.
I know its similar to the red skullwing but I dont care. I work well with red as most know of my artwork so I just started painting.
I needed practice working on SB figures and this helped me learn. As well I got a my own version of the red skullwing in the process
My next SB figure will be more original colors

That looks nice, I like the little red dots in the middle of the black eye cavity, makes him look crazy evil, especially in that 3rd pick down.
Good work, there's some nice detail on there.
now you got to do some crazy neon colors on some shit.

So painting over my handpained flock was a bad idea...
Ummm... this is a rare one ..... now
Yeah I agree on the matt finish but at least some clear coat on the head... it will give it that wet bloody look

I dont think its necessary. The dots are very small so it would be hard to accomplish for me.
I have to go over then again with a bit more paint. The first coat kinda gets sucked up by the red paint. So now that its sealed and I have a road map I can take my time and go over them to build up a little bump.
Like I said I want to do more work to him. There are areas I want to refine some more.
This is a personal piece so I have all the time in the world tp finish him, and by that I mean I have to be finished by monday
Its all laid out and will look basicly the same. But just better
Now on a larger piece yes I think magic sculpt would be great and I plan on usuing it on a few projects

to be honest lash, (and you know i like you) i am very sad to see this figure customised.
i am very sad to see any of these pieces customised. (even when they are great)
i hope i am not hung out to dry for this.
i support customs, but i hate to see them draw from a relatively small pool of toys.

To be honest I totaly agree with you.
I would never deface a valuable piece.
But being an artist I see sculpts I LOVE and feel compelled to paint. I also collect SB and knowing the run #s (or not knowing them) I only paint on the less popular paint varients.
I can turn a piece that just sitting around and make it beautifull.
Dont worry I respect SB and JP vinyl very much !!!

i know you do Lash, i've been torn about this issue from the beginning.
i think it's tough for any SB devotee.
edit.

LASH-you're a great guy but I originally had the same reaction to seeing a production piece being custimized..FYI-There are "paint" versions of skull bee if you feel the need..My custom is a paint version..I personally think the paint and black protos are the only ones i'd even consider doing this to..

Hey no prob-I just want to stress I AM NOT COOL W/ PEOPLE CUSTMOIZING PRODUCTION SB FIGS..Your work is great but I think you're gonna find the majority of us look at this custom as ruining a good figure that could have been in someones collection....Thjese are not super abundant like some "other" figures and now theres one less..these runs are typically "chase" size for the regular rfigures as compared to there being 2000 of a fig where noone will miss a few!!!!
