outside of nearly looking identical?

not bad -- I'd be curious to see better pics and know what size they are.

one of them is a new sculpt, and one is a different take on cambodia.

the new sculpt is 18" long, the "crouching cambodia" is approximately 20" long.

red vinyl will be the release. spray color hasn't been released yet.

I'm not feeling these too much... I think it's because they're on all fours so they won't really tower over other stuff.

From what I'm hearing, they're 18"-20" or something like that. BIG!!!! I dig em, I just wanna see what colors they're hit with.

Is that just Cambodias head there or is it a new Cambodia-like sculpt to fit this body rather than Nue's?

I actually am excited to seem this red. It looks like taffy, AWESOME!

edit: atease beat me on the size

Totally looks like his head. It fits the crawling body well too. I know a lot of people don't like crawling monsters as much, display reasons for some.

I like these though, thanks for the better pics atease. That new guys face is nasty, such a cool monster.

standing on all fours is unusual for a kaiju but maybe looks cool standing together with the other monsters. But definetely needs a lot of space in the cabinet. Have to check the seize of detolf

I like the on-all-fours poses too.

is it me, or are the bodies the same? the two heads are different but when I cover up the heads on the photos the sculpts look nearly identical...

Exactly the same. It's kinda like they seemed to have made it just for the first guy and said "hey for kicks slap on Cambodia's head!"

Cambodia and Nue have the same exact bodies. But than again, look at Zag and Bakos, RxH's Mutant body and the generic SB fighter body.

I'm thinking the Cambodia one might be made in lesser numbers like his upright brother?

I think Cambodia's head works well on this body, and these are HUGE!
What I like about this being a crawling figure is that it will be a nice mixture of figures when displayed with a standing Goga and Dako, more like an old school prehistoric diorama.

Atease, is it your understanding the first release will be "painted" red vinyl or just the red shot?
I understood it as being painted.

yep i was under the impression it was painted red vinyl. no paint scheme was given though...we shall see.

while i think it's a cool concept to change it up a bit, it's taking me a while to warm up to these figures. from a "storyline" perspective, my thought was maybe he's thinking of showing his figures in different stages of evolution or something like that. like a walking on all fours cambodia would look great next to a standing cambodia...i dunno.
that's what i see anyway...

i wish they were more weird though. :D

These lack the cartoonish silliness of the previous sculpts.

They look good, but don't fit in with what I expect from Anraku (weird).

Really? I think Mamaregon is up there, tounge wagging out, strange snout, weird face overall. Reminds me of a cow x a dino. Maybe once we see some paint they'll stand out more.

I like the idea of the evolution of Cambodia. I also like 4 legged/crawling Kaiju, the oni dogs, the crawling Hedolan. They're good rides for mini's!

I guess it just looks too much like "straight" kaiju, like a take on Anguirus.

I like previous Anraku characters like Glutamin and Gurilla, because they look nothing like pre-existing kaiju. A character like Goga, on the other hand, takes a fresh and goofy aproach to a classic type(Godzilla).

These just seem to lack the goofiness IMO.

I think Mamaregon is just as goofy, but I mean to each their own. Kinda reminds me a little of Nue the way it's snout is, just a bit more angry, but still kinda goofy to me. Can't totally tell though until I get one in hand and see it painted.

The Punch Gorilla looks a lot like Pegura to me (scope the thrashout version here for those who don't know http://super7store.com/store/detail.php?item_id=10790 )

Glutamin reeeeaaallly isn't kaiju to me though, she's like a demented and monster-ized Betty Boop or more like Honey from the Bosko cartoons.

Overall I see a lot of references to other kaiju/characters in Anraku's stuff. Who's Cambodia based on again? I know it's a pre-existing kaiju as well, just can't pull it off the top of my head. As far as Dako goes, I dunno, Cthulhu?!!?

I do agree it is more of a straight Kaiju. The one thing that is consistent, to me anyway, like the Goga, is this new one has that old school sensibility to it that Anraku captures so well. I think it's in the poses especially with the standing Cambodia which reminds me of a standing Nitto Gamera or Barugon. Plus I've just been getting into vintage Kaiju and dinosaurs lately so I'm really enamoured by it. There was an option to order an extra piece with this release, not sure what it is but maybe it is something a little more in the weird Anraku vein to contrast/compliment this new big guy. That would be a pleasant surprise.

...very well put. :D

new ones way too detailed,
missing the abstract, artsy reduced to the minimum styles for a while.

and im in love with all of their older stuff too!!! ...nothin like it.

I can't wait for this one! I love both of them.
Both are painted Red vinyl, and the extra part is an extra head that will be painted differently. I'm curious!

Kind of close to, but not as good as butanohana sidelines; they should stick to their over the top stuff; their identity is based on it, and it's great.
