Post dumb Fresh Meat question
Hi all,

I'm new here. Been collecting designer toys a little bit for some years, recently my interest has ramped up, and now my emphasis is new kaiju. Loving my growing SB collection. Also got my Vinyl Junkies Skull Zombi (yellow) from TT yesterday, holy cow he kicks arse!

Just got my Black Mummy (pink) from S7, totally rad. I am curious, what's under the head-wrapping/cover? Can it be removed safely without damaging the figure, and is anything interesting underneath as part of the main head sculpt? Looks like a skull maybe? Or is the cover not meant to be removed at all.

Thanks!

Well that doesn't actually answer my question. not in the habit of hitting my $60 DESIGNER TOYS with a hair drier when i'm feeling particularly experimental (drunk.)

Actually it does. Blasting vinyl with a hairdryer or, in the alternative, running it under hot water in a Ziploc bag, are probably the most reliable methods of getting the pieces apart without ruining your $60 DESIGNER TOY (which will most likely happen if you try to force it apart cold).

Use low heat, HMS is right; there is something hidden underneath.

Or just check the multi colour set at the same place you got the Mummy; the flesh figure is the one under the cover only its painted.

Drunk shortly after noontime? NM you live in Baltimore too; my condolences. I hate this shithole.

I did enough wading through this forum before posting to get the sense that most people here have attitudes... I been trolling and flaming for over 15 years on this here intertron, might as well come out dishin' now... ;)

I am loving Baltimore actually, my ideal city in many ways, just bought my first home here in the city, got a great job, got a great DESIGNER TOY store around the corner from my office, hop-skip-jump to DC, philly, even NYC. what's not to love.

thanks for semi-answers. probably will not tear this guy apart just yet.

Well the crime and violence as well as availability of cheap high grade Heroin kind of sucks (unless you're a junkie). Plus its really boring.

Designer toy store in Baltimore? You must mean KR Dummys, think there's a skate shop might have some Japanese vinyl but their Ebay practices made me steer clear of seeking them out.

Have fun and try not to get shot.

Dummies? No no I mean Atomic Pop in Hampden, an honest to goodness designer toy store:

http://atomicpop.blogspot.com/

I guess Balti may be a little boring, guess it depends on your scene, are you willing to travel, how busy does work keep you, etc. For a fairly boring person like myself it's great.

Everyone uses the hair dryer. Even the guys that make the toys blast them with a hair dryer to put them together. It's not an experiment by any means since it is the way it's been done this way for years. When Mori gets a shipment in, he just cuts a hole in the box just big enough for a hair dryer and pops the barrel in and turns it on...without opening the box, then comes back a few hours later to assemble them. Any kaiju, neo-kaiju toy can safely be taken apart this way. Just don't use a heatgun/paint stripper.
One of your questions is "Can it be removed safely without damaging the figure..." and HMS actually did answer your question. Perhaps he didn't answer all your questions so you'd be surprised when you do take off whatever it is you're taking off. You say you've been trolling and flaming for over 15 years. In those 15 years, did you learn to use the forums Search function?
I'm kidding....welcome to SB :D

when i was trying to put together (and take apart) a real head figure that wears chest armor, i was certain i was going to tear it to shit after heating it up with the hair dryer

but it worked out fine

the vinyl has a good memory

i had to drop a secret base henshin suit into boiling water to get one head to fit inside another. i was certain those were never going to fit! but it worked out fine

Your use of the term 'nice' worries me . . . is he still using 'grooming product'?
