I think this is the first toy I actually want to punch in the mouth.
Im with Liquid, worst toy this year... the Kaws bank was bad but you can always argue at some level it had theoretical functionality value

What was that? The fact that it was spherical and therefore aerodynamic and would incounter less wind resistance when throwing it into your bin?

Because they're 12-2, baby! Seriously though, it seems to be a spoof of a spoof. The original character is from Santa Inoue's "Tokyo Tribes", and as an "urban youth" sports a green and gold Nike jersey. This seems to be a spoof on that.

I'm not a Kaws fan. I like some of his older stuff but with every new release it just make me like him a little less.

I feel every release is more and more of a stretch at his whole poke fun at society theme.

I agree; and the worst thing at this point is it's not even particularly clever anymore - just the same thing over and over again. In my view, an artist should want to reinvent himself occasionally, rather than risk becoming stale and played-out.

The sad thing is he could put some cross eyes and bone ears on a toilet paper roll and sell the shit out of it all day long at whatever price he wants to slap on it. People like the name more than the piece. If they can say they own 1 or 2 Kaws pieces they are automatically in their mind down with the whole toy collecting / art community.

Throwing X eyes and skull bone ears on everything has just become old.
His signature style has just been way too exploited and not diverse enough imo.

KAWS hasn't realized it yet but at this point his work seems to have become self parody.
Its so absurdly bad he is either oblivious or (as has been rumoured) died shortly after the release of Dissected and a look alike surgically altered by Medicom now pretends to be KAWS.
KAWS doppleganger's instructions were simple Xs for eyes, X bones ears, cartoony hands/feet(if you want) now go create. You are the new KAWS.
