I am hoping this looks better in the flesh.
Making over an existing toy by adding Kawsisms is just diminishing his cache IMO. Didn't dig the Vader, liked the Zooth (but liked it less when I got one), and am waiting to see if I dig this one when I get to see it in front of me.

I think I'm ready to write KAWS off. I've been waiting an awfully long time to be impressed by him, and with each new project he becomes more disappointing. Started out as one of the best, but now he's a joke - a very rich joke.
Years ago I thought he'd be an icon of a generation similar in standing to Haring. Does this road he's traveling affect his legacy? Does it diminish the value of his previous work? Is he still considered an artist, or is he just a brand now?

NT I feel the same way. I am a huge Star Wars fan, and Companion fan, but the SWxKaws companion was dreadful in my eyes. Didnt even consider purchasing it, along with todays release. I hope it goes back to basics.

I think the Pushead Companion made a statement but we're just now taking notice and learning what it was trying to tell us - "KAWS Is Dead!"

i dunno..i think this release is kinda cool...much better than the twins/zooth/bank/ and even the vader.
I've never really held kaws up in high regard as a fine artist, so my perception may be different than the other people posting their disappointment.

Even if you like this, the whole point is merely to brand it as "KAWS," given that it's nothing but a tweak of a pre-existing toy. Don't let that observation rain on your parade if you like it or are a completist, but ... well I could rant for days about the strangely overhyped case of Mr. KAWS, and that wouldn't be very nice so I'll stop.

Thankfully I didn't snooze on it and got it right at noon... I figured with all of the hate towards H, he'd be around for a little while! Gone in minutes!
This was the only Kaws release I've really wanted since the Dissecteds... but then again I love the original Hasheem vinyl. I'll see what I think when it arrives, but I'm stoked that it's bigger than the Santastic one.

me on the hunt too, but guess some toyshops

Looks like a few have already dropped to 150ish. I'll wait till 120 and if they don't drop to that price then I'll pass.

mine just arrived...came in a plastic bag a la BXH...like the zooth release too...I wonder if this is going to replace those sweet yet difficult to store boxes we all adore so much.
Anyway, this looks much MUCH better in person. Colors pop nicely.
