Post Plaseebo Son of Sum released
Hi Guys,

The Pleasebo Custom website will offer the first three issues of the Ultra Limited "SON of SUM" figure.

These figures are hand cast in urethane from my original sculpt and are based on the story "The Legend of Sum". They are hand painted and all made here in the US.

The SON of SUM figures will be available this weekend from the Plaseebo store at http://plaseebo.net/
* You can read "The Legend of Sum" story in NEWS section.

Enjoy.

Ah, but nonetheless a nerd with a sharp eye.

I have for years searched the bowels of flea markets and junk shops scooping up every sort of broken toy and bags of parts. To the end that I now have volumes of discarded materials with which to perform all kind of Frankenfigures. I like the idea that I can on occasion include a part from an older toy as a sort of homage to what came before. If you look closer at some of my other figures, you will find my homage to many other characters from Mickey to T-1.

Enjoy,

Bob

Hey Bob, let me ask, why do you even use the munny bodies as bases for some of your customs and figures. Your WAY more talented and think you can come up with such a better figure that would own any.

Also when are you going to make a humanoid figure besides the baby. I want to see you take a figure with a vintage stance and make it in your style.

Why not use it, if it's the shape that he wants????

Because I think Bob is a way better artist and I think he can come up with a body shape that kills the munny.

i dont see why there such a fucking brain spasm over what platfroms are where if mr conge is blowing shit up as awesome as his work is with a munny body or not, i dont give a fuck if he uses a dildo and a turd as the base i dont see why the hell everyone is stuck on bases so hard that they cant see how stand alone the final product is, besides this isnt like my tiger 7 munny, the damn munny body is hardly noticeable...

...the sum saga is pure genious bob un paralleled detail in all your amazing work

Hey Guys,

Thanks for your kind words and taking the time to comment.

The Munny is one of the FEW great, no brilliant, original platforms and I have enjoyed building a number of Munny based customs over the years. When I saw the Son of Sum in my minds eye being a chip off the block of his ol man, he had to have a teddy bear belly to echo his dads beer belly. As coasterbear alluded, the munny backside had the shape I needed with a stumpy tail I could modify into a belly button, so I used it.

I will use anything available to me that allows me to bring the vision to life. The concept of the figure and how well that concept is realized visually are much more important to me than how I go about building the piece. More often than not, I have no idea how I will be able build a piece at the concept stage, the building process becomes a sort of Mc Iver adventure. This flexable approach to sculpting also keeps the work fresh, challenging and interesting for me. I mean I don't know what could happen next.

Enjoy, BC

Here is a peek at what is happening next.

"WAR" *(You already know the back story)

That's awesome. One thing I've always been interested in, is production, I'd love to know how you cast something, or articulation is done. Actual factory vinyl production, or I'd love to be able to just cast my own stuff in resin. Anyone know any good websites or references, for learning how this stuff is done?
