I just read Lash's fine tutorial on how to paint with v-color and it may be something I try in the near future, but I was wondering if anyone could give me a heads up on how to strip paint from vinyl figures without damaging the vinyl.

If I remember correctly its best to use a pure acetone, then with a cotton ball or pad you move from the inside to the out like a cd. Reds and pinks tend to stain clear vinyl and are tricky. Clear vinyl tends to get a bit cloudy when acetone is used so be ready for that. Thats the extent I remembered.

Good Lord... don't drop figures in Acetone baths...

you want to keep the exposure of the acetone to the vinyl at a minimum... the more you use, the more it'll soak up, and can cause the figure to distort.

if you give it to long an acetone bath the vinyl gets very very soft.
It will harden back up for the most part, but I'd be a bit worried about longer term damage to the vinyl. I got mixed up on the bath/sponge bath thing as well, and have a mightin with a squishy head.

I was told that on clear vinyl you can never get the paint off and the vinyl still be completly clear underneath becasue of the way the paint adheres to the vinyl. True?

The only colors I've had a problem w/ is red or sometimes black.
Red tends to leave a pinkish hue, black can leave a lovely nicotine-yellow stain.

In my experience, Gargamel paint comes off real nice and doesn't leave a trace. even for red.

Blobpus paint takes a lot of work to get off. last time I'm doing that
