Anyone read Hiddy's blog? is the store in Tokyo closing (or moving?) or something? It's hard for me to make out when I read the translation

I had a feeling this was going to happen in a broader sense. No real reason, it just felt like sooner or later this hobby was going to lose steam you know? Everything is cyclical...

I'm sad I won't get the opportunity to see the store either...sucks.

I don't know if the hobby is losing steam. I just think from a business standpoint it makes more sense for them particularly since posting things internationally and even nationally in Japan is so cheap. Sales will stay the same if not increase and expenses will go down.

The first store was a lot more spacious, but the second had a cool dungeon feeling. I'm sure it was making plenty of $$$, plus since SB doesn't attend toy shows in Japan, a shop is really the anchor for what they're doing. Then again, I guess 60-70% (more?) of SB product is shipped overseas, so maybe the shop isn't a big deal to them. I dunno. Anyway hope they're just relocating. It's always nice to chat with the staff there.

it looks like thier just moving. the wood panels is for the new place it seems. Until the new place is done, it's only going to be web sales. I'll get a more direct answer tonight and post it up, unless someone else does.

I recall Mark saying that they were just moving after the New Year.

Yes, but that is really all I know. I haven't heard anything about when this one is closing or the new one opening??

Man it had better be a new and improved location, visiting SB was one of those "must-do" things when I go to Japan hopefully this year.

Forget a new shop in Japan, I say SB packs up and sets up shop in NY, they can get something in SoHo.

just gave them a ring. The shop's closing tomorrow, and it'll reopen somewhere else next month or in March.
