 missle fire !!
something about vinyls with a really cool gimmick always gets me . some light up others spark and some will fly around your room on a string . missle fire seemed a natural for robots but of course they didnt stop there . out of all the wierd things toy manufacturers did to thier line ups i would say making missle fire toys was by far the most popular gimmick . first up here is the giant size blazer with removable claws so you can insert the missle fire device . dont see box cover art like that anymore .

one of my favs . this is gakeen and one of the harder missle fires to find . this vinyl shoots both missles and discs but even if it only shot discs i think those are still considered missle fire .

Thanks for posting pics of this Jim. I still think there is a mid sized version packaged much like the smaller Mach Baron. The only other version of this character that goes for more $$$$ is the Sanzen diecast. As Hillsy would say "A thing of beauty"..

I look at these and I think they are amazing. Awesome! Super cool! But, I can only wonder at how I would have appreciated them as a young boy. I know it would have been different and I imagine it may have been more magical. As childlike as I feel I am capable of being in my appreciation for toys, in my heart I know it's not quite the same. (sigh)
I'll keep trying to recapture my youth as long as you keep posting photos of your amazing collection, Jim. Thanks for sharing.

Can I join the party? ; )
Not the greatest photography, but I was pretty happy with this shot I took a while back (plus the Pegas looks straight up GANGSTA!).

man, I love all of the missle firing figures! those were things I couldn't have when I was a kid since the folks thought I'd blow out an eye or something. Oddly enough, later on I got a BB gun from 'em and nearly did pop my eye out...

damn you duban ! that pegus is the truely amazing ! i have been looking for that for a long time now . my tekkaman talker seems lost without him . leave it to nakajima to make a talker and a missle fire all in one .that machine blaster sure looks like the one i lost on e bay a few years ago .missing one small piece around the waist ? that is an incredably hard piece to find . nothing but pure envy here .

thought i might throw a non robot up here . i think the name is gabra from akumizer . all three heros were made into missle fire but the main hero , zabutan , was also made into a mecha machine or at least a dx version .

the zabitan dx missle fire . hidden compatment under the chest plate fires missles . unique feature on this is that you push down into the boots to fire .

Sounds like the one I sold! I had two at one point, and I was very surprised that it took me a while to find the buyer for my duplicate! I think it had some minor damage, but given the rarity of that toy I thought it would attract a lot more attention than it did. Where's the love for Robo Kress I ask. ; )
By the way, is it me, or does it look as if the Pegas has a crack pipe strapped to each arm?

Vintage Vinyl: I hate to torture you further, but here's a shot of the one I have in my collection along with the one I sold:
And here's one for Hillsy:
I love this damn toy. (I left the tail off, by the way).

Love missile firing toys.
I wish someone would re-tool the missile mechanisms (Coff M-1) and make some new ones.
The big missile firing Zaboga will always be a thorn in my side.
But this effer defines Japanese toy to me...

this is one of the coolest toys period. i have this dream sometimes, where im playing with those big goofy arms, and firing the missles at all my other toys.
then, like always, i wake up and realize i dont actually have one. sigh.

Truer words've never been spoken. I just got a banged-to-hell Getter 1 the other night. One launcher works. The other has...something...jammed in it. I'll get around to fixing it eventually...as soon as I pop apart the figure and wash the layers of filth offa him!
Alas, such is the state of most of my MFVs...otherwise, I'd share pics of mine right now.
Aside:
Anyone thought of recasting missiles? I could use some...
