Copro Nason - Otaku Exhibition 2002
hey... I just stumbled on this old page for some Copro Nason exhibition in 2002 titled "Otaku" with Glenn Barr, Tim Biskup & Coop. Just thought it had some pictures some people might like (i figure... it's "fan art")

They're all great but I love Coop's kaiju toy portraits the most. What a brilliant style, and it's so cool that you can tell that he used old Bullmark vinyls (or repros) as inspiration. Thanks for posting this.

Be nice if there was a gallery up here in SF that did a small otaku show...those are cool.

Thanks for sharing this. The Coop paintings are great. I like the Barr's too and the Biskup's. This must have been quite a show at the time, and a good indicator of where things were headed.

I own Biskup's Daigoro painting from that show... It's beautiful in person, and will probably be the only OG Biskup I'll ever own!
Wish I'd pick up more pieces from that show!!

Was that the same show that had a lot of Coop's collection in a glass case to show people the original inspiration for these paintings? if so, I picked up one of Mark Nagata's paintings at that one - a hot pink kanegon with a splash/speckled background. It's still one of my favorite kaiju items. I remember how inexpensive those Biskups were compared to his prices now - but it was still a lot to me back then - although i was very tempted to over-extend myself to get one.
Being a collector is about learning to live with regret.

I have a Biskup Rodan giclee, and I had Gamera but sold it...big regrets. Those Coop paintings are fantastic, I wish they were available as art prints...awesome.
