People care, they just don't always say so. Good to get to know you a little better. The pic of you and Brenna is very nice.

I've been collecting comics and toys for what seems like forever (I'm 42). Started out the early '70s with the Shogun Warrior stuff after I caught a few undubbed Raideen broadcasts on late-night cable (For whatever reason, scheduled broadcasts out of NYC -- probably WPIX 11 or WORTV 9 out of Jersey -- were interrupted with Japanese shows; I still have the Marusan Trading Company catalog around here somewhere...), and it was all downhill from there. Space Giants, Johnny Sokko, and especially ULTRAMAN became my heroes. Something about the Japanese design aesthetic just clicked with me. Fan for life.
I own a collection of 35,000_+ comics from the Silver Age to present (Kirby is my god), but I'd give 'em all up in a second for vinyl or vintage chogokin.
I guess I should also mention I wrote the liner notes for Something Weird's DVD releases of Basket Case, Pigkeeper's Daughter/Sassy Sue, and Primitive Love/Mondo Balordo. I also wrote a regular column for the British horror rag, The Dark Side. Thieving plagiarists. Writers, beware!
I'm an illustrator by day, cranking out boring technical drawings and Flash animations for a very well-known distance learning institution (Want to make more money? Sure, we all do!). Pays the bills, I guess, but what I really want to do is vinyl kaiju (see crappy-ass drawings in the Fan Art section).
Three kids. Married and shit. Yep.

I haven't spoken with Tom since Katrina.
He basically lost his whole life in Katrina, his house, his studio, all of his art work, everything. His office at the University was untouched though, so his walls and walls of toys in his office are probably OK. From what I understand the stuff in his office was only a tip of the iceberg. I have been in his house on 1 occasion, and I was allowed entry into the main hallway only. From what I understand, I am one of 3 people to ever step foot in his house. He's a strange but super-awesome guy. It's really sad he won't talk to anyone anymore, he has had some sort of breakdown, he doesn't return my e-mails.
Anyway, I may have a pic around here somewhere of his office, it's nuts! Diecast robots, plastic and vinyl everywhere! He also has a bunch of movie props, like a piece of ear from the Van Damme masterwork "Hard Target;" at the end of the movie the antagonist is blown up with a grenade in his pants! Well, he has a piece of ear from the remains. Other notable things include a fake hamburger from some Japanese movie with a removable "eaten part" and a decommissioned Figment (some kind of interstellar dragon) from that Disney Epcot ride.

Hi, just signed up here, my name's Paul.
I've been a fixture on the KR board for awhile (I know that's not a plus here, but whatever) and I came into collecting through the figures of artists I admire like Biskup, Kozik, and Baseman.
I have a whole lot of Touma, including an almost complete set of Skuttles (just missing 3 of the 5 custom-show prizes). I was a runner-up in this year's show; you can see my creation here (it is dynamic so needs a movie):
http://www.asente.com/kr/Skuttle.mov
My collection is pretty eclectic, but with lots of Biskup, Baseman, Kaws, and Ledbetter. Lately I've been adding some kaiju, mostly Zagorans and Damnedrons, but if things hold true to form that will probably expand, which is why I'm here. Started looking at them for real at SDCC this year, buying for someone (hi, futureplastik), and got hooked by those Zag silly grins.
I'm also a big fan of roller coasters, hence the name...have ridden them all over the world, including almost 100 in Japan. Anyone travelling there who wants some recommendations, let me know.

That car is my favorite SF landmark: Holy shit!! Is that really Franks car? Or am I just a gullible retard?
LOl.. no its not mine. That car is a legend. someone who no one has ever seen..has been living in it and moving it from one side of the Duboce Overpass to the other for at least 14 years that I have lived here. each year it gets a little rustier and more packing tape gets applied.

That guy dissapeared around 5 or 6 years ago. again, never saw the owner but it would always be in th same area, year after year.
I, myself was 'homeless' for ayear back in 1976-77, but it was actually pretty cool..I had a car and just car-camped at Negro Bar near Folsom lake for a year at the state park. It was actually pretty awesome, that sort of thing is when your 15 I guess.

hi
I am Elia. Nics include SaintOfSpinners, MonkWithGun, and NatureBoy. I love to travel, hike, and camp. Throw me in the desert or jungle (I need to get to Sabah next) and I am happy. I am a bit of a recluse, becouse I was raised by criminals and went to 11 elementary schools, but I seem to know a lot of people and everywhere I go people want to talk to me.
Collecting? I think the first thing I started to collect was Corgi die cast vehicles when I was 8. I'd save lunch and bus money to get a new one every few months. After that it was stamps, coins, comics, records, reptiles (live), insects (not live), some woods, and now toys. I like all toys. [expletive deleted], [expletive deleted], ciboys, but mainly kaiju. At night I'll turn the lights out except for the detolf and just gaze at the toy beauty.
Music? Got into punk in '79 as a teenager in San Diego. Devo, Iggy, The Cramps, Bowie, and The Stranglers got me started. Now I just go to dance clubs though.
My old job is almost done and moving into web design and production. Looking for an internship or start up job now.
I live in LA. My first 40 years I was angry. Then 3 years ago I embraced possibility theory with brain elasticity theory and rewired myself to be happy which is now almost a constant. There are some moments I get annoyed but never depressed or angry.
I am the non-super cracker on the left.

yo, i'm jake. i lurked on here for about 6 months before signing up last december, my account just got deleted though.
i'm 20 (21 in may), i moved from england to australia with my parents when i was 8. i grew up fairly poor so i don't remember really collecting anything at all apart from pogs/tazo's hahaha.
i originally got into toys about a year and a half ago through medicom stuff (mainly bearbricks) and then slowly into kaiju. my 'collection' is pretty pathetic since i don't earn much and have been saving to go to japan in april.
i got into hardcore when i was about 16 and have been edge since then as well. i've kinda dropped out of going to shows (last one i went to was internal affairs in july) but i still listen to it pretty regularly and have made alot of great friends through it. i put out a shitty zine called 'stuck again' (fro m the horror show song) about 2 years ago. someone buy my record collection. i also love alot of shoegaze, doom, 90's hip hop, and shit like cat power.
and, a picture taken over a year ago with my grandma's dog:
i miss those AM90 infra-reds...
ps girls hate me and i have the worst luck ever. fact.

I'm Phil from Philadelphia- longtime listener- first time caller.
I'm 28, living just outside of Philadelphia. Been collecting toys for about 10 years or so, used to be mainly Transformers then I moved into Designer toys in 2004 and now Kaiju more recently.
I'm a big Star Wars enthusiast, I own a Boba Fett replica costume (minus the jetpack, but that'll come when I get that refund check in June)
I'm a mechanic in production. I dunno what else.
I do some art from time to time. If I ever show any here, let me know what you think.
take care,
Phil

Hey everyone,
I'm Mark, loooooooooooooooooong time lurker, just getting into communicating; currently living in Atlanta; surgical resident at Emory. Taking a year off from clinical duties to get involved in cancer research--developing nanotechnology for cancer detection/treatment.
Always been a big Japanese toy fan, started out in super robots and mech (shogun warriors as a kid/ Robotech early adolescence) and grew to love the funk that is vinyl. So comics, music, robots, monsters and mecha rule my second bedroom.
Guess I'll get around to getting a camera and take some pics...

you know one thing i find amazing about this board is the mass amount of semi-retired hardcore kids, myself and husband included. i wonder what it is that makes two relatively small groups of people overlap so much. maybe it's just that we've always been ahead of the cool curve. haha.
anyway, welcome to the board newbs!
and don't worry about those baby collections, they have this amazing way of growing like nymphomaniacal(pretty sure this isn't a word, but ifuck i am going with it any) rabbit familys. especially once your are part of this wonderful commuinity here.

I'm Carl. I live in Cincinnati but plan to leave here some time in the summer after I graduate. I'm 23, I've been into monster movies for as long as i remember, my dad ingrained a deep love for Godzilla, Ray Harryhaussen, and Universal Monsters in me at a young age, from there I got into Ultraman, Johny Socko and the like. I'm finishing school this spring and will have my BSW. Right now I work work with people who have developmental disabilities teaching them life skills, and I also have an internship through school working with people who are diagnosed with HIV/AIDS have a history of homelessness and are recovering from a chemical addiction. i don't have a lot of free time. My toy collection is small but growing, this past summer I went a little to far and ended up breaking the bank for vinyl, but it was worth it, I've wanted a collection of kaijus since the mid nineties when I first read g-fan . I started lurking Skull Brain last spring to check out all the pictures of older Kaiju toys. I'm vegan and have been for eight years, I'm pretty into comic books (BPRD, Fear Agent, Daredevil), I've recently started working out on regular basis and am really into going to the gym.
I don't think anyone will read this but I felt obligated to post.

Hello. My name is Jesus, but my friends and family call me Lalo. I'm 24, and a substitute teacher at the moment (waiting for a bonafide teaching position to open up [not sure i want to do it anymore though...blah blah blah]). Got married this past december to my long time girlfriend. Lived in Los Angeles for my whole life until last August when I moved up north.
the first thing i really collected were die-cast cars during high school. loved the muscle cars and the hot rods. Then found out about Rat Fink and Big Daddy Roth shortly after. I really got into the whole "character art" thing after that. Then just over a year ago I found out about vinyl toys, and started collecting whatever caught my eye.
Then a few months ago I saw a Skullwing for sale, and had to have it, and that was the beginning of my japanese vinyl. I have since then moved on to PopSodas!!
that is me in the front of the line
and this here is a "self portrait" of sorts that i did back a number of years

My name is Tony. I am 28, from the south suburbs of Chicago, and started collecting back in December. I had wanted to get into this for a while, but aside from some blind box stuff, I couldn't pull the trigger on anything bigger. Right before Christmas, my girlfriend said "Let's go to Rotofugi and you can pick out anything you want for Christmas." Now I can't stop.

There's been a influx of new people onto the boards lately and I think now is a good time (or maybe even a bit overdue) for new and old people to introduce themselves.
I'm Joe. I work at Super7, and this dude has been chilling with me for awhile now. He gives off good vibes.
