congratulations robert. looks guys, one of those rare moments of sanity on the board when a man shows priorities that make sense...

Comic-Con hotel room reservations will open on Wednesday, February 6 at 9:00 AM, Pacific Standard Time. Hotels at Comic-Con International are always hot commodities and most book up early. That said, inventory is constantly monitored for availability and updated frequently. Check back here or call the Comic-Con Travel and Housing Desk at 1-877-55-COMIC. Outside the U.S., please call 212-532-1660. The reservation deadline for Comic-Con special member rates is June 13, 2008.

Please note: We have not been allotted enough rooms by the hotels to meet the demand for rooms. Rooms do fill up within the first few hours so you may want to try to book a room directly with the hotel of your choice now.

I tried booking with several hotels directly and they were either all sold out, blocked out or crazy spendly like $450 for an otherwise $150 room!

UPDATE: this post prompted me to try again. I found this site and was able to book a room at Hotel 500 8 blocks from the convention center for $120 a night: but i'm only staying Wed-Fri

I found out it was on top of the local YMCA...lol...

UPDATE

fucking hotel doesn't have bathrooms in each room...they are in the hallway flophouse style. gonna cancel..

http://www.sandiego.org/nav/Visitors

UPDATE: fucking www.sandiego.org SUCKS. DO NOT use this website to book any hotels. They charged me $25 to cancel my reservation at the hotel with no bathrooms.

I live in Escondido(which is about 25 miles north of downtown SD)and my brother Jesse and my homeboy Sam are coming down again from LA so we just stay at my pad and drive about 30-45 minutes to and from the con. It's definitely cheaper than a hotel/room. All that $ will go to more Kaiju and/or Joseph Michael Linsner stuff! To those I hit up already the offers still stand if yous want to save some green. Let me know though because I know of others who would rather crash on a couch or sleeping on the floor than spend $100+ a night...comes out o be about $500-$600 total for lodging....FUCK THAT!!!

i guess that is a hostel.

I booked this place a bit up the road, $140, and recently renovated:

Best Western Yacht Harbor Hotel
5005 N Harbor Drive
San Diego , California

free shuttles to and fro.

maybe i will try on the day and see if anything closer for a decent price otherwise i would rather spend the money on toys ;)

I was planning a solo trip over and had booked to stay within walking distance, but it's kinda turned into a team trip so I'm out on Hotel Circe again (family suite, outdoor pool for the kids etc).

Closer the date, if anyone else ends up that far out and wants to taxi share on a morning drop me a PM . . . psychos need not apply!

ok lurker, i booked a room here too. spoke to the guy at the front desk. He says he's hoping the renovations will be complete by July, but who knows.

and.....no free shuttles. maybe special deal for the convention? $9 cab ride each way.

All right! Posse at the Best Western! Seems like it could be cool, 'tho there's no bar :(

Anyhow, my wife and I stayed at a place right up the road from this one 2 years ago (the Marriott - now crazy expensive), and there were shuttle buses specific to the Con that stopped at pretty much every hotel along this strip. Even if they don't stop directly in front of this one, it's probably a 5 minute walk to where one does stop.

Oh, and Kirkland - I saw that same Hotel 500 place - overjoyed at the price & location, but the shared bathroom thing killed it for me too.

just to go back to NYCC for a second...methinks this year will be worth the ticket...it won't be like SDCC (nothing else is)...but I know there will be new stuff we all want there this year...

so dump on it all you want, but this year will actually be worth something.

maybe as more info comes out...

until then, I'm content to get excited about sdcc this year...and am counting the days until it arrives...

I just wanted to point out that I don't think NYCC will be nearly as crappy this year as it has been...thank the toy gods...
