question about S7 Real Head exclusives
So do you guys (S7) decide what colors are used and the pattern, or does RxH just surprise you guys or what?
If you guys decide the colors, how's that done? does everyone brainstorm and then have a vote, or does everyone go off on their own and think of a cool colorway, then it's brian who picks the one he likes best?
Fungus and Bruised Chaos are especially bad-ass, so I was wondering.
anyway, thanks for any background info you can give.
looking forward to the next exclusive!

I have put a lot of thought on this subject over the months...
I wonder if a local designer like flynn has say... or the figure is presented to them by the toy company... such a cool process. I think the pink paint on the fungus was added after the initial concept of the figure. anyone have more info on this?

its a completely collaborative process between S7 and RxH.

Just curious, what makes you think that?

I think someone (an S7 employee? Josh?) has one without pink spray. I could've sworn I saw this discussed before, probably in the collection thread.

This is a great question thats probably better answered by a senior S7 staff member instead of yours truly

Cool. I don't know but it's an interesting question. If no answer is posted here I'll try to remember to ask at S7. I think the subtle pink is part of what makes it such a great colorway. Plus there are pink lichens and all that.

What happens is that at times we will ask to do something. If we have a idea of how we wan it we ask Mori. If Mori has a idea he just does it. But the colors are pretty much decided between both S7 and RxH. Like the Fungus, the pink was not on it first, but we saw the sample and asked to add pink to make it more attractive.

Yes, in Brian's collection, he has a Fungus with and without pink highlights. Adding pink was Brian's touch, however I believe he also had some involvement in overall paint design.
To Kirkland's point, it is indeed a genuinely collaborative creative process for S7 exclusives.

It varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. Some we are much more literal with, but most we ask them have some license in our idea to make it their own, and make sense for their line. In everything we have done with RxH we will suggest and idea and color scheme, but because mori does such great paints, I let him interpret what he thinks we should do, and reject or play with our ideas as he sees fit. We then go back and forth until we both feel like the color is spot on.
For example, the Fungus started out as me wanting a nice clear dark green chaos, almost like the Ocha bee or green gargamess but painted. I had some color ideas I thought might work, but mori switched them around a bit to find what he liked better. When that sample arrived, it felt like it was just missing a little something, so we decided on adding the pink to give it that last little pop. After that, it was named "fungus" by the store staff while looking at the samples, everyone was into it, and it became a release.

Thanks Brian - I had no idea! I'd assumed that S7 had almost no input (except for special circumstances like the orange/black S7 set).
