Charles Bronson were great for their time and I got to see them 3 times but they basically were a power violence band that played sloppy and snotty thrash. I think,IMHO,that they were way overrated. The Lp is good,as is the split 7" with Spazz but the other shit was kinda hit or miss,so it really never made a strong impression on me.

I always liked Charles Bronson art/covers/inserts way more than their music. They had a killer aesthetic.

Alex..listen to the Sars 7" again..it's amazing!
I'd rather listen to Double Negative over DC or GW.
Also if you like Brandon's drumming for GW,he plays drums on the Attempted Suicide LP by Career Suicide.

I will agree that the sars 7" is great, but when a band has that many records that sound pretty much the same it kind of ruins it for me. It's just like 'oh.. I have six 7"s by these guys.. which should I listen to?' and the answer always ends up being none.

Do they really have 6 7"s?? If they do,fuck,i had no idea. Help me out;
*s/t 7" on Kangaroo
*Sars 7" on Deranged
*3rd 7" reg press or pictured disc Slasher/Way Back When
*Attempted Suicide LP Deranged
*Invisible Eyes 12" Deranged
*s/t 12" of 7" on Deranged

haha grisham was my AA mentor for a short time everyone local thinks he is kind of a I FART A LOT and he acts like he was in the greatest punk band of all time. They played their "last show" at the vault and he announced that they weren't about money and shit so when the guitarist left they were done. They still play at the vault, last time I think with smut peddlers and D.I.
More of it is because I grew up on all that stuff.
bannedindc wrote: Collin Shots wrote: did anyone say TSOL? I didn't want to read the whole post.
The bad brains on MTV thing is they promote a random band every week, all my friends thought Bad Brains was the title of a new song by korn. Apparently thats what they look and sound like now. personally I think TSOL sucks. bad. I think people just say they like them because they are afraid of jack grisham, as I would be too but I'm an east coaster, they had one good song? code blue? "TSOL are sissies" and in defense of those rastafarians... for the record bad brains have looked like that for better half of 25 years. lets not talking about god of love though.

I'm with you on this one!
My friend snapped all these great photos of them.
There is something about hardcore and punk that looks great when you capture it still on black and white. It just captures and illistraits the energy so well.

Anyone listen to Pankration? I had the discogs CD, and can't find any info about them now.
Also, I just re put on His Hero is Gone - Fifteen Counts of Arson. Still sounds good to me.
This thread is getting me to dust off some old favorites that are still great.

 best hardcore bands....
I'm totally going to get slammed for this, but I honestly have never cared. Here are the top 5 nominations for me:
1. Unashamed
2. Strongarm
3. The Crucified
4. Clay
5. Overcome

i'm more of a punk lover than a hardcore kid, but I feel like commenting anyway. firstly, bad brains are too diverse musically to really encompass hardcore for me. my buddy loves only the reggae albums they put out--I let him borrow The Quickness and he was all confused. so here are my rankings--
most legit #1-- Minor Threat
most fun for me-- Gorilla Biscuits (closely followed by Black Flag)
best sxe-- STRIFE-- there is only ONE TRUUUUUUUTHHHH!!!!!

Honestly, I have no idea how many they have I just mean in general. Too many contemporary HC bands have way too much material out there. Fucked up is a good example of this.

well, I'm actually not a big Strife fan although I did have that album. does staying poor mean you didn't sell out?

missed this one until now.
In the end, there are too many amazing bands to pick a best ever. Bad Brains were great, but definitely have their pro's and horribnle con's (not to mention horrible politics).
Gen1 (attack of the killer B's):
Big Boys
Black Flag
Bad Brains
Minor Threat
Gen2:
Gorilla Biscuits
Judge
Chain of Strength
Gen3:
Refused
Quicksand
Sparkmarker
Gen4:
Swarm
Life's Halt
Gen5:
I don't know as much as I should.....
