Saw this in April a the Philly Film fest and it was the best movie I saw there. Hands down. Totally amazing.

Then at Comic Con, I Saw Steve Weibe interviewing before playing Donkey Kong and got more starstruck than seeing/meeting anyone else. He was there to play the person with the highest score over the course of the con. I love this movie.

I also got sweet promo merch, there a coin (get it) keychain with billy on one side, steve on the other! awesome.

I agree. See this movie.

here is a picture of Steve Weibe that I took at Comic Con!

I just saw it too. I decided "maybe Billy is represented poorly, it's a doc. anyway and could edited as such" so I went and researched it more. All of the interviews I read with him make him seem like a major douche too.

To me he seems like a guy who has a huge ego and an EXTREME case of "angry nerd" complex. He can't let go. I mean he seems like a nice guy in the end, he gave that old lady a Q-Bert machine and all. But he's just so competitive and it seems those lame ass records are all that are really HIS (the restaurants he runs were his dads) and some "normal" guy came and whooped him on it.

Part of me thinks that's why he's a little upset too. It's a normal, nice guy who beat him. Not some weird-o nerd with a mullet.

In the end, though, Billy Mitchell is a I FART A LOT!

Agreed, this was one of the best movies I've seen in ages; at least in terms of really getting involved in the story, and caring about what was going to happen. Didn't think my wife would like it, but she ended up loving it too. It might seem lopsided as a doc, but I really think that Wiebe is a nice guy and Mitchell a a poor sportsman (and a surly one at that). It really didn't seem like either of them were trying to be anything different when the cameras were on. The extra stuff on the dvd is well worth watching, in terms of rounding things out.

I had actually seen him on a previous documentary thing on MTV for his world record on Pac Man, which I believe he still holds. I remember hating him then, as that footage of him pushing other brands hot sauce to the back of the shelf to put his own in front of it. there is no doubt in my mind that guy is a grade A cheater.

Oh for sure, dude's full of shit. Every interview I read after seeing the movie he came off worse and worse. His stories kept changing on events, "I was busy" or "I just didn't want to, I haven't 'trained'" or "My wife didn't want me to" it's crazy.

I think what burns him more is that Steve is just like so OUTSIDE the world of gaming, or was. If it had been one of those super0dorks Billy could have always been like "well I have a wife and a business so screw that loser" but not with Steve.

Billy reminds me of a lot of angry nerds I knew/know. They're more sad than anything, but still major douches.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Wiebe has a satisfying career and home life, in addition to being a gaming whiz, whereas Mitchell just seems bitter. And I agree with Skylar; I wouldn't trust the guy as far as I could throw him - in business or games.

What really damned Billy, IMO, was when his sidekick was saying "I can only speak for myself, but Steve is an honest, upright, good guy" and then the camera crew asked Billy his opinion and he just said "I'm not close enough to the situation to answer" and would hardly look at the camera. That, along with him driving by to pick up his sidekick when Steve was waiting for him in HIS restaurant, then seeing the cameras and driving down the block and around the corner.

And I love the editing where they used Billy's own words against him. And then asked his wife if she had ever seen him compete in public and she said no!

Does anyone know whether that tape Billy submitted was legit? I was hoping the director would look into it - the copy they showed looked shady. I can't believe the Ref entered the score based on that tape!

He's definitely got the hugest ego I've witnessed in quite a while.

Fuck Billy Mitchell for real, that guy is a dick, his little henchman was a dick to, that retired computer guy that lives by the arcade. What a weird little scene.

One of my favorite moments is when Mitchell is trying to get the interviewer to say "America" and the guy guesses "necktie?"
