Glenn and I think it would be cool for Skullbrain as a community of his friends and fellow enthusiasts to do something for Brian's family and / or something in his honor...

I sent Amber an email asking her what the family would prefer in terms of flowers or a donation in Brian's name to his church or charity.

She replied back:

First all, I wanted to thank you, and everyone for the kind words. I
know his parents are very upset and I will be in contact with them in
the next few days. As soon as I figure out what would be best I will
let you know. Most likely, I will talk to them tomorrow and I will get
back to you shortly after.

Thank you again.
Amber Woenker.

I just saw this and wanted to add my condolences. I only knew Brian virtually, but his passion for collecting touched us all. He will be missed.

I think even if those of us who want to throw in give a small amount, it will probably end up being a significant donation or gift...

I'm in...this is so sad, and he was such a positive presence on SB...

wow i just read this and its really sad on alot of levels. im sorry to see such a serious collector go. i didnt know him but his board name was one of the first ones i noticed coming in here, and it always made me smile for some reason. reading the obituary we were linked to it saddened me even more to read he was a plumber/steamfitter. im a plumber and obviously i collect toys so that was sort of a double whammy to read. esp considering his age when im only 23. i hope hes happy wherever he is and my deepest sympathys to his family.

I didn't know Brian either, but my condolences go out to his family and friends. It's terrible to lose someone so young, let alone at all.

I have been away from this board for a week or so, just responding to PMs. Finally get some time to catch up and this is the thread I read first. Well Brian, I will pray for you and the family.

I can't believe this. Amber, I'm so, so, sorry to hear about this. My condolences to Brian's family and friends.

As others have noted, his passion and generosity were outstanding. I have a toy in my collection that I got from Brian; I will keep it forever.

RIP Brian

Got a note from Amber:

Dear Kirkland,

I talked to Mrs. Rollins the other night and she asked me to let anyone who wanted to help know, that they listed Brian's old High School as a place to make donations. Thay also wanted to see that the art department gets it. I thought it was a really good idea. If you are still interested, the address to the school is:

Bishop Dwenger High School
1300 E. Washington Center Road
Fort Wayne, IN 46825

Email: bdhs@bishopdwenger.com
Phone: 260.496.4700

I am pretty much in awe to see how many people in your community care and are wanting to help. Whatever you decide to do, I just want you to know that his family was really touched, and that they are very thankful.

Brian is the main collector who inspired me and got me into Dehara way back when. He was always very helpful and a stand up guy. He will truly be missed.
