 First of several Monster portraits
So, I'm working on a series of Monster portraits that i may have done up as Iris Prints. this is the first one. it's not completely finished and the type is not really part of it, just an aside thrown up at the last minute but i wanted to go ahead and show it off. i've been slowly working on it for months working both from a photograph i took of the item plus a live model about six inches from my face.
Others I am planning on doing are my Biskup handpainted dragamel, the rainbow mushroom geruge, the GID Rangeas, the ningouishi gargadeath, and the shinkaruna Kobo Chios Monster. i suppose i better pick something from real head to round out my selection, huh?
anyway, what do you think?
and the skeleton that is the monster that makes up this monster. file size on the finished piece is like almost 100 megabytes!!
ooohh careless, i am seeing that some of my highlights did'nt blend in where they were supposed to, i'll have to reshoot that! oops

no, it's not a 3d model, (i wish!), it's actually a vector line drawing that i did in illustrator.....the preview mode shot of it shows all the poiints of individually placed color on it to achieve the entire image, the wavy lines show how the color is manipulated in the image in order to denote form. it's a lot of work but, i dont know, if you can't guess from my beadwork, i actually enjoy excruciating little detail oriented tasks. hehe, sick i know.

Amazing art.
However, if you plan on selling these I hope you ask permission from the toy companies/makers 1st. You are dancing in the gray area for sure.
If you need help getting permission give me a call at the store.

thanks pogue! haven't even really seriously considered it yet. i guess i want to wait and see how a couple more of the others come out first. my chios and dragamel are almost done. i guess if i were going to do it, i'd probably wait until i had six and then release it as a portfolio of six monsters.
i made some berripus patches on canvas this week so, anyone buying anything i put up in BST over the next month will get one free with purchase! they're pretty cute at about an inch and a hal in diameter.

That's a seriously amazing piece o'work - You have the skills indeed. Have you sent this to Blobpus yet? We already know Blob appreciates your collecting/photo efforts, I bet seeing this would be a big thrill over there.
For folks admiring this, you MUST click through the top pic above and see it full-size to appreciate what Paul's accomplished here - the shrunken version doesn't convey half the impact. (I don't know a dither from a raster from a vector, but I know what I like.) Like a great Oriental rug whose knots ruin the eyesight of a half-dozen nine-year-old girls in its weaving, any task that calls for this degree of time and obsessive attention to detail is inherently impressive - And when the outcome is this almost photographically detailed image of a great Dokugan paint ... well, color me impressed!
