Sigh. And I just turned 25 recently...

New research this week has found that happiness over the course of a lifetime follows a universal curve in which the greatest bliss occurs at the beginning and end of life, while misery dominates middle age.

The pattern was consistent around the globe, according to the report, which examined social survey data on 2 million people in 80 countries, including the United States.

I kinda disagree. When I turned 30 I felt inspired that I finally made it past the tumultuous twenties and had new found insights into who I was as a person. They probably were always there but I soon learned the thirties were much better than the twenties. Now I'm rapidly approaching 40 (Oct of this year) and I'm telling you life just keeps getting better and more simplified. I'm still having so much fun. Only thing about getting older is you have to exercise a little more and can't eat crap 24-7 like we did when we were young.

31 was a great year for me...you are mos def still young. you got a ways to go before you have to grunt just to bend down to tie your shoes...

You know you're old when you start saying things like "When I was growing up...." and the other person has no idea what you mean.

You're old when you take offense to being called old.

Lixx hit the nail on the head. People are mostly joking when they say it's all over after 25 (or 35, or 40, or 50, or whatever.) If they aren't joking, I hope they'll re-assess. "Life is what you make it" might sound corny, but it's actually wisdom.

The 20s are awesome but in your 30s and 40s, people trust you more, you're more psychologically and financially stable, you're still young enough to do almost anything you want, you still have time to change your path if you so desire, and despite the inevitable effects of aging, it's not all THAT bad.

Anyway, at 31, one shouldn't be worrying about all that stuff.

Lol....that reminds me of a couple of stories.
I was about 25-26yrs old and walked into the ice rink to play some pick-up. At the same time there were try-outs for the travel team. One of the moms that was organizing asked if I was there for the Bantam try-outs. I just looked at her and said "Bantam try-outs?" She turned beet red and apologized. I laughed and went on my way. Bantams are 13 years old.
A few years later, I was working at that very same rink. While sitting behind the counter of the store, another hockey mom asked me how I can juggle working full-time at the shop and do my homework. I said "My homework??" She said "Aren't you still in High School?" I laughed and told her that I had finished College in 93. I was already in my 30's at that time. She walked out mortified...and apologized the next time she came in.

I think those were some cougars trying to play a different kind of "pick-up" with ya Bert...

Ah...I shoulda taken the bait. Some of those hockey moms were hot.

To be honest it was great being done with my 20's . I kind of feel now that the first part of the 20's is all about Master's Level High School BS ("HEY I DONT HAVE TO HIDE MY BONG ANYMORE, FUCK YOU MOM! I CAN GET INTO BARS!!! FUCK YOU DAD! "). The 2nd Half is sweating turning 30.

The 30's are awesome you get to leave behind all the nonsense of the 20's and find out where you fit in the world and not just be all angry that the world isn't what you'd like it to be.

Settle in and enjoy the ride. I'm finishing up the 30's in June and I'm actually eating as shitty as possible now because once you hit forty if you eat shitty food you have to wear Depends.
