I think its cool that Smogun has raced to the top of the Gargamel Charts. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think everyone was "oh neat..." but that was about it when the first smogun came out. I personally think that Smogun's popularity has a lot to do with Koji (and later Bwana) taking him under his wing and just killing the colorways, followed up of course by Garagamel's excellent realease.

but personally I think the Gachamecha is a real charmer but certainly not in a SUperman way but definitely in a "The Creeper" way

I think Smogun's initial popularity had more to do with the elusive origins of the monster, the Bemon link and the fact that it was just so kick ass, it's an instant classic!
