Post reconditioning doll hair
not sure if this has been touched on, but does anyone have suggestions how to tame the mane of an old toy with doll hair?

my dr. gori has some serious frizz going on and i would like to flatten it out a bit and get him looking a little less unkempt

i made it a bit messier for the photo, but it doesnt look very good when i try to flatten it some

Ummm... hairspray?

Edit: Second thought, bad idea. Who knows what that stuff would do to vinyl.

Maybe water and mild soap, then a very gentle drying.

No it will not make it crusty.
TAP Plastics, or a hardware store.
Try the shampoo, Hair conditioner first.

Sorry I missed this, saw the pics. I would say next time-keep the hair dryer away! doll hair is usually synthetic and made of plastic fibers, which MELT under the dryer, if he got out unscathed, I'd say you're lucky. air or towel dry only! :)

Also liquid fabric softener (diluted in warm water) is a good thing to try for detangling.

the thing that people never realize is that shampoo is for people, but doll hair is usually made of fibers that are better with laundry type items. I have used some shampoos and found aveda products to be gentle on my dolls. i've washed many a vintage doll head with aveda products and had no problems. :)

the hairdryer photo was only for entertainment purposes haha. it was only there for a brief second.

but thanks for the tip - i would have been really pissed if i melted his hair

i just used what i had in the house (no fabric softener or other stuff like that)
