He has 3 negatives so I'm not sure he could maintain a 3rd party YJA account.

He also likes to bid people up to their max then walk away from the auction.

He might be a shill or just an asshole but he's messed with a bunch of stuff I was bidding on in ways that lead me to think something's up.

If I see him on anything I want even remotely I bid it up, if his top bid gets exposed I'll sometimes walk. He doesn't get any bargains if I find them while he's on them.

If he's an SBer he's the only one I consistently bid up who hasn't done it to me a few times too many first. Actually atm there are no SBers I bid up intentionally (meaning I'm aware of who they are here).

Ok, I've just watched this guy scoop up two sets of the Mini-Chaos sets from Wonderfest with a total BIN of JPY 66000.

No, it was two sets. He picked up the first one at 38000 and the second at 24800. Ok, I miscalculated- it was only 62800 total.

I am so sorry for you hardcore collectors that someone like this exists. Perhaps there could be some ironic toy-related retaliation for when they are exposed? Deathquid (or maybe Rangeas...) up the caboose or some such?

He won an Expo Chaos for 38,177 yen last week too. He should be getting some feedback soon since that plus the RxH mini sets is close to 100,000 yen.

In the past he would bid up slowly get a top bid exposed then leave the bidder to pay their high bid (unless someone else outbid them).

Totally. Some of that stuff happens on ebay as well. Bidders keep jacking up prices and then bail out. Can't stand it.

Just playing devil's advocate here, so please don't take this as a personal affront or whatever, but if a bidder's high bid is sincere ... the bidder is actually willing to pay that, then isn't said bidder a participant in market value inflation? How is the person who bids you up to your highest offer any more "guilty" than you? I understand that the "good" bidder's perspective is merely "I'll pay crazy money because I want that thing so badly" but regardless of perspective, the objective effect is the same, should that high bid turn out to be the final one. Doesn't matter if it was bid up by a manipulator or a true collector. The market knows no ethics, only numbers.

Again, don't get mad because I'm totally with you guys on resenting this behavior ... but what if, just what if this guy's bids are as sincere as yours, but he isn't willing to bid as highly as you? Wouldn't the "walk away" behavior be a matter of concessions? "All right, you win" ??

That's most likely the case. I'm suspicious that these are the people that offer themselves as a service to sellers that want their stuff to sell at high prices. Shill bidding and increasing market value. It happens quite a lot on eBay where the same people are constantly bidding on auctions from different sellers but never end up buying.

If its sincere than its cool, but giving his history I'm betting this isn't the case. He has a history of bidding up auctions of people he KNOWS want said item, then bailing.

His bidding pattern doesn't indicate he sincerely wants the item. He just wants you to pay top dollar.

It happens way too much to be sincere collecting. He's gotten wins a few times this week so if he's not a shill he better really want the item.
