Not feeling this one at all... The head sculpt doesn't fit the body type at all. SB' figures have always been more fluid and this head is more square that doesn't fit their design. Looks like someone mashed the piece up rather than create a new sculpt or design. IMO

 Getting closer! SHARKMAN
cornbluth wrote: honestly, and in efforts to actually contribute to this thread, I think this figure would have benefitted more with a whole new body design...I understand and appreciate it being part of SB's aesthetic and allure, and it has worked amazingly up until now...it just looks like they slapped on a cool head and claws to the old boy...well, it doesn't look like it...that actually IS the case here.
IMO - I think they kinda blew it ( I can hear Abelincolnjr coming from a mile away on this one!!! heh.)
yeah, i love the old body, but a part of me doesn't feel toy makers are living up to their full potential when they do stuff like this (i don't know how i can judge, being that i have absolutely NO toy sculpting potential, but still!), i want something that is 100% new all over.

For a possible short run, limited appeal figure, it makes sense to re-use some body parts rather than re-invent the wheel, and its one of the things I actually find appealing about SB - the fact that a lot of the figures use teh same body, but with a different head, or a different arm that seems to mkae a total different figure in the end - thats what made teh Halloween mix n match sets fun. And its part of the OG aesthetic that made toys like henshin cyborg and micronauts fun - interchangeability of a base body to make a different toy. I guess if we were kids collectng these we'd be happy with one of each different sculpt and a hair dryer (operated with parental guidance or some such BS).

both SB and RXH reuse bodys a bit. I think the fact is that when the colorway is great...you dont even notice. I took me forever before I even noticed it with RXH to be honest.

I'm all about recycling the body designs. I just feel the new head sculpt doesn't fit with it. It doesn't flow like the other SB figures. It also doesn't look like they're trying too hard on this piece. Too many irons in the fire maybe? Seems rushed to me

As stated earlier . . . it's a GRAPPLE collaboration so compromises may have had to be made and other peoples opinions may have had to be taken into consideration.
It's the nature of the beast . . . a group of designers sit down to design a racehorse and invariably end up with a Donkey!
That being said . . . bring it on!

what, no laser beam?
I would have liked it better if the claws were part of the arm instead of separate. Don't see the point of wrist articulation...

Are they separate?
I think wrist articluation would be great...I mean I love teh fact my own wrists are somewhat articulated....

i'm pretty sure the arm is a new sculpt with the "shark hands" and the wrists don't move. all one piece just like the standard secret base hand/arm sculpt.

 BxH
Nothing is "crappy" from Bounty Hunter. They have some of the best quality/sculps/clothes of any company. Shark dude rules if he is/is not a knock-off.

Ohhhhh schnap!
I just decided that it was better to drop it since we already did that dance further upthread. I do love about 4 - 5 BxH toys, but they got a track record like Bad Religion. And I still have a hard time getting over the whole "$90 punk rock tee thing", it's kind of more "Punk-Themed Merchandising to me.
EDIT: You know what Im gonna leave that statement up there so if anyone wants to take a shot feel free. I lapsed into my "internet troll". Respect where respect is due, BxH basically started this whole thing and I'm being an internet dumbass whos got one [expletive deleted] to my credit .

90 bucks is soooo punk rock for a T-shirt. You have to have a total disregard for money or what stuff should cost to even think of buying them. I would have to say almost all japanese harajuku stuff comes across as being themed/costumey though.

This is something I've always wondered about too. What or who is Grapple, The name would suggest a MMA group.
