The terminology comes off kind of curt even though I don't think that was your intention.

He was asking, not telling, and he used "please." That doesn't sound curt to me.

Perhaps I misunderstood you Playdoh when you said you'd be posting a "claim" to every Dokugan we both need unless someone else claimed it first.

I read that to mean that unless someone else claimed a Dokugan I needed here first then you would claim it. Thats not really the kind of post that makes me want to "back off".

In any event statements like that rarely lead to compromise since there's no way to complete unless I start a thread here on every item I have my eye on.

I'm hardly old guard and didn't mean to jump down anyone's throat.

I generally don't respond well to demands and threats though.

Maybe "backoff" should not have been used in the header but Paul did say please, and I think he was merely trying to give a heads up to other skullbrainers that he was bidding. Although I would never give anyone here a heads up on any auction I was going to bid on, and usually no one is after what I'm after (I think keeping it a secret is the best bet not to draw attention to something you're after) Playdoh was polite about it and I don't think he was staking a claim to all other Dokugan. I think it's a good thing here at times though so the price doesn't unnecessarily get driven up. Just my 2 cents.

When I asked if he intended to claim the metallics and SF 45 the above was the response I got.

The initial request made sense but this follow up seemed to be over reaching if it was for real.

Playdoh says that he didn't mean it literally and its easy to misunderstand one another on forums.

I'm not apt to rehash this discussion if one of the others pop up and I pass on this.

Old guard or new if someone tells me they're going to claim everything in this way then its foolish to pass for obvious reasons.

The prospect of "claims" on every super rare is a bit much from anyone.

that was all i was chiefly loooking for in posting this. i was trying not to let the price get jacked up....i wasn't laying claims to any future dokugans nor did i mean to insinuate that i would. i'll admit "backoff" may come as abrupt but it was not meant that way. i apologize if i offended anyone but i am still asking your consideration in bidding on this. purple walrus, poisentixels, coasterbear, xoco, pickleloaf, etc. you would never know i want some of the things i want on ebay because you had already bid them and so i just watched the auction go by because of that. and nobody asked me too. i just did it because they were friends of mine and they had put a mark on it and i wanted to see them win it (of course, i would be miffed when someone from out of left field would jump in and win it at the last second, i was rooting for my buds)

Yup totally agree with you playdoh as i have done the same. I think the only thing was the backoff comment. Other than that...like I said..I hope you get. I actually don't collect the dokugan but I love your collection shot of all them. It's amazing and hope that you can add to it!!

I've backed off on a lot of stuff and I actually share Playdohs philosophy on doing that.

I'm just not passing on a metallic or SF 45 (except I heard those were protos and might get released in the Summer so dunno on that).

This week alone two Peach NY have been sold, I haven't seen one up in a very long time then two.

When I pass a grail something better tends to pop up anyway.

I don't want to have this discussion again over a metallic just a heads up.

Actually I had no idea that you or anyone else had backed off from auctions I'd bid on at eBay as "locoxoco" but I sincerely appreciate it! I've done the same thing many times for others whose ID's I recognize as being a Skullbrainer's. I sort of dread the day when I see a familiar respected ID and realize "I will have that thing," but I'll probably follow the example that others described ... a polite e-mail or PM saying "I want that ... let's talk" or whatever.

I think what happened in this thread was definitely a matter of ye olde internet misunderstanding, but that's already been cleared up. Good luck playdoh and all you other CRAZY completists.

9 times out of 10 seller ends early to accept offer..

can't stand eBay for that reason alone.

I'd already made a BIN offer for this before your post Paul. It'd be very weird that it would a) take this long to be accepted, and b) be accepted with no notice to me (still), but I guess it is just possible that I got this.

More likely I'd bet he did not accept my offer, but then did accept another, later (higher) offer to end it early.

I got the knunt Peach NY (thanks 1M for the heads-up, Flankenglott!), where did the other recent one pop up? Playdoh, do you already have the Peach NY (or did you get the other one this week)? Seems like I remember you finding that one a coupla months back.

Also I finally found my misplaced Atomize, so counting the PNY that's en route here, but not counting a) the clear-green, as I assume that one's not coming to me, b) the three Cyclopas, or c) any custom/HPs, I'm now at 19 of the production Dokugans. I'm only missing Frozen, clear-green and clear-pink among the 'realistic' ones, plus of course the metallics, SF45, etc. that we're all (?) missing. (Don't know whether to count Pumpkin Guts as a realistic possibility or not.) Someone is bound to cut loose a Frozen eventually ...



Finally, I did not find a pic of the Pumpkin Guts on K-T or data's flickr, though it's very possible I simply missed it - anyone got a link or any more info? I'd just like to see what this thing looks like ...
