 favorite non-kaiju monster?
frankenstein? draculas? asian ghost girls with long black hair? chupacabras? cenobites? fruity yummy mummy?
what is it?
I bet a lot of people say zombies.
I really really love the Creature from the Black Lagoon.
and I think werewolves in general are really underrated and get no love next to the other monsters.

sure, the CG counts. he's more of a diabolical villain in the serial than a monster, but he's evil and scary so that's close enough.

I guess I have to go with the Cyclops from the 7th Voyage of Sinbad.
X-Plus made several characters of Harryhausen monsters in 6-inch vinyl form.
I have the gold Minotaur (Sinbad film), 6-armed Kali statue (Sinbad film), Dragon (Sinbad film), and Cyclops.

I am so with you on that one. If I could be any monster it would definately be a werewolf. It's cool, because it's not like a full time commitment. It's like monster reserves, just show up once a month and the rest of your time is your own. I could do that.

First would be Boris Karloff as Frankenstein's Monster.
More of a man monster but I'd also say Gunnar Hansen as Leatherface.

MMM..Monsters! My picks are Ghastly Graham Ingles for his body of work in EC comics, the old witch is hard to beat.
Roth Studios monster shirts when someone says monster Rat Fink and his ilk instantly pop in my head. Ed Newton's designs for roth studios are the shit.

I love monsters, period.
But if I had to pick a couple for the top of the non-kaiju heap, it would have to be Frankenstein's Monster (and the various iterations thereof) and Cthulhu from Lovecraft's works.
Frankengirls really appeal to me... heh.
Xenomorphs (those from Aliens) rank pretty high up there too.
And lately I've become a fan of Jason Voorhees, who reminds me a bit of a favourite monster from DC comics, Solomon Grundy.
Not to mention that Predator was like one of my favourite movies ever growing up. Sometimes there are advantages to living in the country -- get to play Predator in real woods.
I'm gonna stop before I get on to too big a roll...
