I tried watching Madonna's version of "Swept Away" in a "so bad it's good" context, but it didn't work. It's just icky bad. Bleh.

I made the same mistake with "Glitter"

I was just about to seek this one out 'cause I was watching Contamination last night and then I watched the interview with Luigi Cozzi and he mentioned it.

Blue-Underground is a good site to check out, they have a lot of trailers too which is nice.

I can highly recommend Synapse's 42nd Street Forever series if you want two gut-busting hours of grindhouse trailers. Kung Fu, Sexplotation, Blaxpoitation, and some truly weird shit. It's the best party DVD ever!

Something Weird Video has a similiar trailer DVD, but heavier on the 50 - 70's 'nudie' flicks.

This is an old fave! Also known as 'Escape from From the Bronx'. (name change, cashing in on Escape from NY). Italian director.

Thriller - A Cruel Picture

i thought this one was great. i watched it in swedish so the dubbing wasn't an issue

the slow mo stuff was great, and i think tarantino used it in the crazy 8's sword fight in kill bill
and the whole eye patch thing with darryl hanna's character in kill bill

i read that in the eyeball scene, the director actually used a real cadaver

and the exploding cars were hilarious

i recommend this one for a good revenge flick

yeah, but that's pretty much it as far as I know. and they don't really do anything to advance the story, of course.

Well, I didn't see this recently (more like around 25 years ago), but some scenes from the Wizard of Gore will never be forgotten. :) Anyone? Anyone?

one of H.G.'s best, if I do say so myself

it's funny, I've seen plenty of incredibly gory, disgusting movies, but for some reason the cheesy scenes of the "sword swallowing" in this movie get me every time

Yeah, the sword swalloing scene is the one that stuck with me the best. He really twisted and swirled that sword around with glee. Totally sadistic and over the top.

Don't know if these fit the category but i remember watching these on video back in the day. Xtro took things to a warped new level, Blood beach got about as dumb as you could get, and the hype from the early shots in Fangoria got everyone checking Alien's Deadly Spawn.

just saw Hanzo Razor Sword of Justice

story moved a little slow for me, but certain aspects of it were awesome. i liked his torturing himself... and the girl hanging in the net was something else

How can this not have been mentioned yet? C'mon already, nubile young girls it says! NUBILE! Classic, and a personal slash/trash favorite of mine.

Post Re:
Oooh, an exploitation thread, very nice! Have to say I found THRILLER rather dull & uninspired, especially those dragged out super-slo mo "action" sequences.

Recently caught up with I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE and to my surprise found it to be actually quite good instead of being the soulless, plain nasty exploitation I expected. I've read somewhere that Zarchi's "inspiration" came from actually encountering a woman that had just been raped and him helping her to the hospital if I remember correctly... Make of that what you will.

The eye scene supposedly is also shortened - you don't see the scalpel going into the eyeball.

And another thing: when it comes to exploitation, NOBODY does it like the Italians and Chinese!

havent posted here in awhile, but i've been watching quite a bit lately

even delved into some giallo... not sure if that counts as gindhouse

Image
cannibal holocaust was pretty brutal. the turtle scene was not shocking, but it kind of grossed me out because like an idiot i was eating cottage cheese while watching it.

the girl on a pole scene was rough. this one pulled no punches

Image
watched queen of black magic this weekend also. this one was fun... like a kung fu flick with black magic. some of the ways the witchy lady killed her enemies was awesome. flying head!

can't find a poster for it

and finally
Image

Tenebre
just plain awesome
story was pretty good, but the direction/style was incredible

and the soundtrack by goblin kicks ass

No love for Little Boots, eh? The uncut version is truly disturbing. Gotta love the beheading machine.

Anyway, how 'bout this gem:
