 so is the 40GB PS3 the only one you can buy now? it seems like that is the only one that stores are carrying. are the 80GB ones out of production?

I did. I'd prefer to buy from a store if possible, but I guess it's not.
all those Amazon dudes of course have the prices jacked up. they want like over $700 bucks for an 80GB.

They are coming out with a different 80GB combo with Metal Gear Solid 4 sometime in June.

I remember paying upwards of $50 a DVD at major retail outlets.
Thankfully that's changed now

June 12th 2008, Gun Metal PS3 bundled with MSG4 but only in Jp and very LTD ED. Oh and it has shock gamepad too.
