i like him too, especially the zombies coming out of graveyard -
homage to michael jacksons thriller vids - is awesome.
coming from very simple "less is more" style,
its great dude shows he is able to do fine drawings too,
invalidating most of the criticism.
real cool he doesnt ride the vinyl hype,
dropping figs every month.

i agree! if he does finally do a toy product it would be neat if it were made of plush or paper mache like the mexican day of the dead festival stuff.. anything other than vinyl, even out of wood or cement would be cool. no one makes cement toys and what would graf be without it?

Trouble with the Mexican papier-mâché sculptures is that even those that the artists take care to make "archival" inevitably absorb ambient moisture. Smaller figures tend to last longer but I've known people to buy the outrageously creative huge figures only to see them lose all balance in a year or two. Eva Hesse syndrome x10.

plush, wood or cement then! hmm thats a good point.
I only have small DOTD skulls but noticed one did get
funky after it was exposed to moisture vapors in our
kitchen window. maybe if they were made from plaster
bandages then sprayed with a sealant?
btw thanks as well for sharing the pic you took a few
posts back. that rules!

I think so but I haven't been there for about a year. The alley is between Mission and Valencia streets near the 16th & Mission BART station. It's well worth a visit because the entire alley is covered in murals, some of which are amazing. Here's just one example:
If you like murals you might also want to visit Balmy Alley, which is between 24th and 25th Streets, a few blocks from the 24 & Mission BART station. Many are old and worn but that's part of their beauty. More recent ones include this crazy garage door piece by Sirron Norris:
Sorry for the thread drift.

The San Diego zoo is really the best in California. It makes the SF zoo look terrible by comparison. If you have a chance, be sure to visit it some day.

Love that Jeff Roysdon "Uncle Sam"
I own one of his large paintings and love his work. Any one know if he's still doing paintings or comics?

Neckface is pretty funny.
At teh Simpsons Vans release I watched him start out relatively sober and quickly progress to "that drunk guy" who urinated off the roof deck and onto teh valet parked cars...oh, and some dude's camera bag
While he was sober he did draw a nice hairy arm for me tho...which was cool
I don't really dig his stuff that much, but it certainly has a pissed-off-psycho-teenager viscerallity (sp?) to it - which probably won't be quite so funny when he's over 15 years old.....
