Old news! jk I actually got the arc a few months ago. I love his earlier stuff and loved Rant. Snuff is pretty twisted and worth the read.

Really? That's very cool. I thought Rant was very good..Sort of return to form.

that was aimed at redchicken, who implied that he had already read snuff, was it good? do tell as i am very eager to read this one.
yeah, many years ago i worked for 3 years for waldenbooks and we got those advances too. it was a pain reading past all that but neat to say you had just finished updike's new book or whoever when it was still months away from being published

Unfortunetly...no. But a few months ago tons of these advanced reader copies starting showing up on the bay and I got over eager and bought one. It was at a point where I had nothing to read and completely jumped the gun.
I don't want to say anything in terms of good or bad because I don't want to ruin anything. But I am going to get a hardcover (I own all his stuff in hardcovers)
That being said..I thought Rant was great..Haunted was uneven and I hated diary. All the other stuff I thought was really good. But in general if you like his stuff..you won't be disappointed.

I've read a lot of his books - kept up on all of them for a while but have since given up. I think his books have just gotten worse and worse. I really enjoyed Survivor and Fight Club. Choke and Lullaby were alright. Invisible Monsters was bad.
The last one I attempted to read was Haunted and I gave up - with that one specifically his writing style didn't work at all. He was suppose to be writing short stories as different characters but every story sounded like it was written by Chuck rather than different characters in his book. And the stories were either urban legends I had already heard, or were just too contrived.
I want to like him as an author, but the more I read the less I like. For me he's like a less talented Irvine Welsh - I love some of Welsh's books (Trainspotting, Glue, Porno), but others are crap (Marabou Stork Nightmares).
