I think, and assume, that the purpose of Hiro's thread was to allow people to express their opinions- good or bad- about the RxH product and concept. What unfortunately happened is that some people used the thread as an opportunity to piss and moan about the lack of RxH availability via distro. Unfortunately so, because I'm sure there were a lot more people that had actual, valid comments not equivalent to MOAR RUN SIZE PLZ that went unexpressed. Oh well.

From what I saw, it didn't seem like suppression of commentary, but more of an attempt to keep the thread from being 3 pages of rants on toys that people don't have/can't get, which they may or may not collect in the end.

Actually my post was very constructive and positive. I realize that it was deleted by accident and I accept this fact. I just want to set the record straight.

Oh, I'm sorry... I wasn't very clear. I didn't mean that your post was bad, it's just that some of them were and that ended up tanking the thread.

also, i think after what Mori had to go through in the beginning of RxH he could take some comments that don't worship eveything he does...if it's constructive...bashing about anything is never helpful...for anyone...

I think your right about expressing what may work or things like that, but the thread was not for that. It was to tell mori how you felt about RxH. He doesn't know how many people collects his stuff over here. So I thought it would be cool to let Mori know. It was not to tell him" Make More" or" Do a Online Store" and so on. It was just a thread to let you guys have a chance to say hi and thank you and so on. This don't mean the board has to be all possitive.

The only reason I'm not defending myself here is I was asked politely to stop and gave my word to do so.

I'd like to refute the attacks point by point but I won't bother.

Stop attacking and I'll stop replying.

I wasn't asked not to defend myself but I can't defend myself without breaking my word.

At this point I'm explaining why you get to take shots at me without me refuting them in detail.

I don't think you understand what I agreed to do nor do I see a point in explaining it short of posting text from a private email which isn't really acceptable imo.

Dearest Mori,

I personally love your toys and thank you for making something that I can cherish everyday. I am proud of collecting RxH and that's not something that I would have thought possible 5 years ago. Hopefully I will be able to visit you in December. You are my "kaiju kami" :D

Long live RxH!

To be honest, after reading this thread, I find it very uncomfortable. Isn't expressing dissatisfaction with the distribution of his product a legitimate concern to tell a business owner?

I can understand deleting a comment that is just "fuck you guys blah blah blah" (to be honest I sometimes wish there was more moderation with some of the a-hole negative attitudes on here) but it seems like this person had a concern, and just because it may not reflect well on certain people or follow a party line seems like a B.S. reason to delete his posts and lock the thread. If his concerns are ultimately unfounded, won't that be clear by revealing the truth, not by deleting dissent?

I didn't see the original post, but unless I missed something, this is kind of disturbing.

I know what your saying. But the thing with doing distro isn't as easy as it looks. Like I said before, Mori is thinking of how to get more stuff out so that everyone can be happy. But still doing things on his own, it's pretty hard to release things. Just incase everyone wants to know what Mori Exactly does on his own:

1.Design and think of color
2.Open and Run the store
3.Bag and Staple Headers
4.Pop In the eyes for the Chaos(this is what he was doing when we went.)
5.package and send stuff to the post office
6.Think of event releases
7.Go to the event and run back to the store to open

I'm sure theres more. But thats why I started a thread.

1. So people who can't go to Japan right away to visit his store can let him know that they love his creations.
2. To keep Mori pumped and keep working hard in making new and crazy things.

I am not saying you can't express your thoughts, but telling someone that because you can't get something, so make more is kinda wrong in my opinion. Then you should tell the big artists to make more original paintings and stuff so you can get them. Just my thought. I'm sorry, but I don't want to explain my feelings for now. This is all I can say and hope that everyone knows that the thread I startted was a chance to express your love for RxH and not to tell him how he should run his business.

Well, we can still discuss our love (or concerns) for RxH over the natural course of discussion... even if it doesn't have a dedicated thread for it. It might be better to just have a non-constrained discussion anyway. :D

there was no censorship intended. I tried to split a thread in two parts so I could lock up all the often repeated but never justified complaints in a thread and let the real discussion continue.

I fucked up the splitting of a thread and accidentally made two threads, one that made no sense. Again I apologize to anyone who had posted honest criticism in that thread I deleted. There is not much more I can do.

I totaly dig what you are saying Hiro. I know Mori busts his ass, and I think it's super cool that you want to give a chance for Real Head fans to express that to him. Thank you for that, seriously. But if you are a fan who can't get his stuff, isn't that important for him to know? Maybe he doesn't care (see below), but if he does care, maybe he should be made aware?

I guess I feel different about this. It's not quite the same as doing original paintings, because even though they are work intensive, they are stiill production pieces that theoretically could have production increased on. A better analogy might be how Mark Ryden does not seem to reprint his books (Anima Mundi for example). That was a $40 book that at it's height went for $500 on Ebay. I think it's hurt Ryden in the long run. Sure he's still popular, but not like he was. If his fans didn't have to pay 10x cover to a flipper just get a book, maybe they'd stick around longer?

An artist has every right to determine how much access people have to their work. If someone only wants 5 people to have their stuff, good for them. But their potential fans who miss out have the right to be bummed about it and express that.

Having said all that, I dig that you gave people a place to tell Mori how they feel and I still think it's a good idea. Real Head does amazing stuff and I appreciate you feeling the same way and wanting to help all of us express that too.

Woah- my post got deleted, all I said was bigger runs.

Surely thats positive? I mean as its messages to Mori I presume he would be happy to hear that? I just get the impression that he doesnt know how many fans he has overseas now and that he could 'Safely' expand on his runs a little bit.

If I owned an awesome underground toy company I would be glad to hear that I could start making and selling more toys.

It wasnt means as a critisism or in any negative way.

Just got back from lunch while thinking over and here is what I think.

blashyrkh:

I know what you mean by fans are wantting more and be able to get it. I don't think thats a wrong thing. Thats why everytime I call Mori for business calls, I update to him what is going on. Like I said he is trying to figure out how to satisfy his fans. I even told him we need more mini's, and right away he said" I'll see what I need to do" So it's not that he doesn't care about his fans. Hope noone thinks that. He does.
I just brought up the topic about other artist cause to me the guys in japan who makes these are artists too, and I'm sure everyone here also does. Thats why I brought it up.
All I'm saying is that the thread was intentioned to express you love and not to be asking him to make more runs. And I think it was my fault for not explaining that in the first place, and i'm sorry. It just came to me that he should just know how many of us totally love his figures, since he has never seen how the fans react to his stuff. Unlike SB and Gargamel, he has never came to SDCC or any events here. Even when I tell him his stuff sold in less than a minute, he just can't believe it.
I hope I didn't get anyone mad or disappointed. I just hope that everyone knows how I feel about this whole thing. Thanks again.

I don't think I ever wrote this much in one day.......
