I just thought we were having a fun discussion...geepers. I was taking it in the most lighthearted of ways...
I think we all know what it means when someone says Kaiju...and most who collect it do...i think it's become more of a shorthand way to refer to a very large universe of toys. i doubt most people who buy Kaiju (in all it's manifestations)care about the intricate history of the word...and no need to school me about it as i do this for fun...my scholarly pursuits lie elsewhere...
why would this turn into an argument...I found it funny when you deconstructed my entire post which was more of just a personal opinion...which is neither right or wrong...I totally was writing in a lighthearted way...perhaps it doesn't read that way without using the dumb smiley faces. I never understand how these threads devolve...it was just a silly discussion!

Same here. I stopped because, again, I didn't want it to *seem* like argument. No biggie though. Just discussion from differing viewpoints. I'm not as into deconstruction like Bert. He can actually spell simul ... simal ... that Deconstructionism word.

If it's big enough to step on you without noticing, it's a kaiju.
Also, kaiju don't wear pants.
So fight figures != kaiju.

Exactly what i was thinking. Not that i don't call fight figs kaiju, but technically they aren't.

But fight figures are not big enough to step on you...
On the notion of simulacra, back in the early 1990's, I went to see this movie with my sis, her bf back then, and a few others. At the time, the bf was reading a bit of Jean Baudrillard. The movie we saw was Paris is Burning. It was a great movie and in the end, her bf and I looked at each other and said "Simulacra? Hmmmm...." and had a good laugh. Simulacra is fun .

Baudrillard's books are specifically what I associate with that word. Try not to say it around Camille Paglia. She'll go all Paris is Burning on you.

it is not personal, we are doing the best we can.
I could be completely wrong, but it just seems that it is the same folks that always get those super limited item, especially when it is release only by S7. And this may be where some of negativity stems from.

It's better than only the fans in, or with connections to, Japan getting all the toys and the US fans having to resort to Ebay or YJA flippers...
I think it's great that Super 7 are able to make any of the super limited toys available to their customers. And we should be thanking them instead of questioning their methods. Just my opinion tho...

Well, some of the figures ARE released at the S7 Storefront, and it's the regulars that show up early that tend to get them. It's the same as those being in Japan and going to the RxH shop.
I'm all for fairness, but I don't think it's unfair that we locals get some benefit for being geographically close to S7.
Even so, people are driving from farther away each week it seems, and competition at the storefront is getting more and more difficult. Where we were once able to just leisurely show up 11:00-ish on saturdays, people are camping out in front of the store overnight now (and more power to them if they're THAT dedicated/obsessed )
Several of the S7 staff members have already stated that they've stopped collecting RxH so that more of the limited figures can be put into the public supply, and people still seem to complain about how S7 does their business.
I mean, come on folks, they're being about as selfless as I could possibly imagine... They've volunteered to forgo one of their job's greatest perks, and even I'm getting frustrated at how people are taking some petty cheap shots at them.
----------
So, rather than hearing a bunch of complaints, how about someone posting some alternatives to consider?
Consider the following criteria:
S7 has no control over how many figures they receive from RxH
S7 has no control over how many figures RxH produces
S7 wants to be as fair as possible to both locals and web sales customers
S7 is operated by hard working fans like us who have been getting bashed for not doing enough with an extremely high demand and short supply.

If xoco is first or second in line on a Saturday morning, just show him your box of trade bait. Here, xoco, look at this clear pink Pharos. No, really, the store didn't just open. Look deeply into the Pharos. Pretty clear pink vinyl. Heh ... sucker's still outside and Hiro's laughing at him because the dumb klutz actually dropped the Pharos and, oh look! No more Ojo Rojos! All sold out. Thank you to the kind store employee who rescued el xoco anyway.
Even BASK completely misses the boat sometimes.
Look into the pink Pharos. Look deeply into the pink Pharos. You are getting sleepy. Sleeeeeepy. Now trade your metallic green mini Bigaro for something that xoco has. Good. Good.

whthalo, loco, melek,
I totally understand your point. It is same for me when I am buying art from artist I really like. I am lucky that most of the galleries are in LA and I can attend these openings and get first dib on it.
Please don't misunderstand what I am saying. I was trying to seeing it from the other perspective of a die hard rxh collector that miss out on these opp. (Lucky for me I am not a die hard rxh fan, but do enjoy the 2 mini that I do own.)
