You thought your friday sucked ! ** WARNING GROSS **
Yesterday during work I got a terrible pain in my right arm, the pain spread to my right chest and stayed. This happened around 10:30 am. I was about 3/4 finished with my work day so I sucked it up and went on.
By the time I finished work it was 3:30, I quickly went to my doctor office as I was able to breath but it hurt like hell at this point. My doctor did some tests and sent me to get a cat scan.
The cat scan shown that my right lung collapsed by about 70 %!
Immediatly they sent me into surgery.
This is where it gets fun !
They cant knock you out for this type of procedure so I had to be awake the entire time. The doctor even said that this was going to hurt..... BAD.
Bassicly I had to raise my right arm over my head and hold it there. They where able to numb my skin and muscle a tad but that was about it. They then had to cut through the muscle and run a foot long needle into me to pop the sack surrounding the lung to release the air. THIS was the part that hut like nothing I tad ever felt. Next they inserted a tube into to release the air for the next few days. Once finished they sewed me up and monitored me. The hospital was full being a friday night so I had to sit in the ER like this all night long. I was just released a little while ago. I'm sitting home not and felt a little better so i decided to post.
I not gee to look forward to going back on monday so they can take the tube back out of me.....
This was my friday ......

Rich that's scary and sounds painful indeed but it's good to know you're in good enough shape to be posting. Very sorry this happened to you but you seem like a guy with a lot of strength and a good attitude. That'll help you get through the rest of this. Here's wishing you courage and and speedy recovery.

That was painful to read! That souded as painful as painful could be. What caused your lung to do that? Despite the pain, glad you caught it in time - that sounds like some serious shit.

I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy, words cant describe !
They don't really have a reason why this happened. They said it seems it may have a been a blep or blurp ( spelling) on my lung. They are like small blisters that are weak spots on the lung. And one may have gotten so weak that it ruptured and allowed air to come out. That or at worst case an underlying case of lung disease. The lung disease was about a 3 % chance thing as I'm very healthy and don't smoke nor does my family have any history.
So honestly they couldn't come up with a reason. They said that it just happens. They told me about a firefighter who came in with the same thing last week. No reason why, it just happens.
i just HOPE that it never happens again !

that is absolutely crazy dude. definitely would like to know what might have been the cause of this?
hopefully for the RxH fiends this is not related to spraying lots of kaiju!

I lift heavy bottles all day so I'm sure that doesn't help. As well taking bottles down from the top rack allows them to slam at my chest.
This could be it.

Holy cow. Glad you're doing OK but jeez, that sounds indescribably painful. Presumably the tube removal will be less awful.

I would hope so. They will be numbing me as they need to stitch up the opening. It will hurt but nothing like what I went though last night.
It was movie like for sure.

Damn!Im glad your doing better.
Spontaneous Pneumo Thorax (sp) happens to skinny or in shape males in their 20's , or at least thats what they taught us in Medic school.Someyimes it resolves it self, but most people need to be decompressed.I cant imagine how that mustve hurt.
