There was a mini Chaos recently, word of mini Evils in Japan. WHO KNOWS WHAT ELSE?! I meant the last few JP releases we haven't heard much of.

I would call local distrio stores. Called toytokyo this morning knowing that they would drop new squirm today so they had some S7 package. Lucky for me they had 2 of the chaosmen and at least one Borg (I got one of each) and another skullbrainer (forget his name) got the other. So call distro stores you might have a plesant supprise.

Man, every time I've called TT for a toy I've gotten shit service. Such attitude, a lot of "Uuuum I dunno man" and "Probably" (vs. yes or no) or "Well just come in....oh you don't live in NY, have someone you know come in"
I'm not shit talking the store, but every time I've tried the phone I just get a jag-alicious tude and so I've stopped. Maybe I've missed some toys that way, but I dunno, don't care either.

+1
i feel your pain... called them twice only to have been connected to another person, both times who knew nothing about their own inventory. really frustrating.

Guys...I don't work at TT itself but I can tell you that its not a matter of not knowing the inventory...these new RxH pieces come in as a surprise for everybody...so the people who work there will only know when they are brought out onto the sales floor. Lev is the only one who knows what's coming, and he can't speak personally with every person who calls the store...and he doesn't know when stuff will arrive...
so I aplogize if some of you are upset that the person on the phone doesn't know if TT has a RxH figure or not, but cut them a break as they don't know until the mailman brings a box in...and then the figures are out on the sales floor within 15 minutes...so unless you call in those 15 minutes, you prob. won't get the answer you're looking for...they try their best, but can't see the future...and no one, even Lev, knows when the package containing new figures will arrive...and after they hit the sales floor they are gone, because tons of people want the 2 figures that TT gets...
these people who answer the phone want to help you...but they can't give you info that no one has...
and try to remember that the person you're talking to is working in a very busy store in NYC...so please have some sympathy...everybody is stuck in a game of pure luck right now with RxH, and blaming the retailers because you don't get the answer you want isn't the way to go here...
Until Jesus starts working at one of these stores and is able to turn 2 RxH figures into enough to feed an army...

My moaning isn't about missing a figure, but the rude service I've gotten via phone. It wasn't even a RxH figure I was after the few times I did call.
Again, not shitting on the store, I've been there once pre-Kaiju collecting and loved it and bought a ton of junk, and I've not had problems with the web site (though it can be frustrating.)

I'm sure the same person who was rude would prob. be polite 5 minutes later if you called...it's something I encounter every day in my life in the city...
1 minute before you called they prob. just got screamed at because they don't have the toy someone wants...or the box they got theirs in has a small dent in it...
I used to be one of these customers asking them to get me a pristine box...then I started seeing it from their side...thank god I don't work retail...
also, one word of advice to avoid getting upset about RxH specifically...until things change, TT only gets a few of every 5th release or so...and those are put in the store and sell almost instantly...chances are if you don't live in the city and call you won't get the answer you want because TT is about a collector who comes in finds a toy they want by chance...when we do the releases for our exclusives I will always try to get them into SBers hands...this Laiju show we're doing is for the fans...but when there's only 1 or 2 figs for the store...they will go out on the floor and the lucky person who comes in and sees them will be the one who can buy them...this is THE most fair way to do it...

It's not just rxh pieces. Some of the phone staff just isn't that friendly. The stuff I've ordered from them through the web is fine but when you email them a question or call I haven't gotten the best customer service.

Theres one guy who knows what hes talking about, the others are never rude they simply try their best id say and then say im sorry. Rudeness ive never experienced but I guess I can see where the frustration is coming from. Im happy they are a distro store.
off topic but on the subject of distro stores. Giant Robot (all 4 of them) does anyone in NYC go there for their fix, cause maybe they had some Kamen Riders...id be interested to know...thanks

Well I've worked in retail for years in Chicago (and dealt with the biggest douches eve.) I know how I acted on the phone. "Do you guys have this?" "Uhm...I dunno..............." "Oh.......ok.........thanks?" That's an actual conversation, no "let me check" or "I'll see."
I'm sorry man, I'm not trying to bash the store or insult anyone there or stub their business but that was my experience every time via phone. I don't think it can be written off to city life or anything like that.
Maybe I have bad luck and called every time someone there had a shit morning, but it was enough to keep me from calling again. I'll just check the site and if I miss it try to get something from a different store.
TT is awesome, it's just I got some bad phone tude' very clearly who ever I talked to the few times I did call did NOT want to deal with someone right than.

all I can say is try to see it from their side. and I know all these people personally and not ONE of them has a mean bone in their body...but when people beat on you all day about the latest D.unny or some other crap it's hard to be nice to every person asking for something that a million other people called about.
not making excuses...sorry if you feel that way...but living in NYC it's hard to be nice to every person you encounter...when I meet that person I'll start believing in God...

right. It's not just RxH...the phone rings off the hook about everything you can imagine...and the email never stops...this is a fairly small enterprise that handles thousands of people every day...in person, on the phone, and on the web.
they do their best...I know I couldn't do it...if I had to deal with me calling about the shit I worry about regarding my toys I would reach through the phone and kill myself...

I think I have seen it from their side, and I'm not saying they're mean jerks. Like I said, I've worked in retail for years, and in Chicago, not Smallville.
I know what it's like in a huge, crowded city full of dicks. Than going to a (record) store and dealing with some pissed of prick because we don't have his Huey Lewis record (also a true story) but than when someone else calls, I was very easily able to separate myself from what happened and give them a chance. If they were cool, just asking a question, even if I was all steamed from some douche who smelled like coffee and ass, I could at least answer their question as fully as possible.
My whole deal was treat the customer the way they treated me, if they were dicks off the bat, I had no problem treating them like shit. But if they just had an honest question, I wouldn't dick em around.
And again, if it was just ONE time, I could pass it, but multiple times? I just don't wanna deal with it.
If I lived in NYC I'd be chipper everyday because it's expensive as hell and I don't make that kinda money and it's an awesome city and way better than where I live now. OK, that's a lie, but it's what I like to think.

I think pristine packaging is very important...!!!
a torn header card or crushed box totally kills the allure and value of any toy as far as I'm concerned...

One day you'll meet me and you be shocked at how you've just met the most upbeat and positive person alive.
in bizarro world.
I spend a good portion of my day working at being nice becaus of the things that happen...I grew up here and will never leave...but it IS part of NYC...there's no way of denying that...
go to some cities and hospitality is the name of the game...but in NY there's a tradeoff for having the things it does have. and it has a LOT...as anyone who'd been here knows...on the good side and the bad...
but I agree with you...when someone comes out with their guns blazing, it's hard to want to take that...I don't blame you...for me, it all comes down to what you can take personally...there's many a business I stopped dealing with because of stuff like that...
I just wanted to let people know I know all these people...and how a lot of the time they don't know if a new toy is there because it either sold already, isn't out on the floor yet, or hasn't been delivered...and with the amount of stock they have, the only person who could remember everything that is in that store is Rain Man, and even he wouldn't be able to do that and be nice on the phone...
