No. What I mean is is that I would only eat meat when I am with others as a way of cutting back. There's nothing worse then having a big group dinner and being the vegetarian that screws up the meal. That way I'd have meat only once a week or less. No meat in the house, no stench, no blood. Less consumption, etc.

Makes better sense?

Yeah it does.
Is being a veggie that much of an inconvenience?

I'm a vegetarian with drama avoidance tendencies. If I eat with someone or the topic comes up, they'll find out I don't eat meat or fish. But I go out of my way to avoid dramatizing my choices or getting into discussions about the topic. I figure, hell, it's my choice - your choice is your choice - and let's leave it at that.

vegans - what do you do about drugs, film, and other things that use gelatin?

i'm vegetarian myself, but mine is really more of a taste thing as opposed to an animal rights thing

Wouldn't that make them M&Ms?

I think it's funny how every time vegetarianism comes up in a thread, there are always a bunch of posts that are like, "LOOK MEAT HAMBURGER YUM," as if that will somehow convert people.

Tip for veggie tempura lovers - there's a great place in Nakano Broadway (2nd floor), run by a couple of elderly folks and (?) their son. Order the yasai (vegetable) tempura and tell them to hold the eki (shrimp). Been going there for years.

If it freaks you out to have veggies cooked in the same vat as meat and fish, then the place may not be you. Then again, if that's a major issue, you might run the risk of starving in Japan.

There is this vegetarian place directly across the street from me. Every Sunday I go in there and ask for a ham and bacon sandwich. Needless to say they hate that joke :)

After they say no I just say, okay, then just eggs on a bagel with a sad face.

They HATE me :)

Thanks, I love to cook, I wished I kept the vegan thanksgiving pics from last year.

And it does really look like ass splats all over those fries up there!
Freakin gross!

don't use em, myself. Film might be my one exception, but I try to shoot in digital for most things anyway. The exception is Polaroid. I guess if that's my one impact on animals, I can live with that. At least I'm not contributing to wasting acres of land for my lunch or directly contributing to the death/harm of living beings.

anyway, i normally don't preach. and i'm sure skylar will find it ridiculous that this thread became so serious.

also i have to agree that being the "annoying vegetarian" is a myth. I don't cook, like ever, and i never have a problem eating out. Do all of your friends just want to go to Red Lobster or something?
