Post Investment
Just wondering, what portion of money we will used for investment ?
10% of income ?
the whole lumpsum of the coming tax-return ?

what type of investment we put our money there ?
Stock .. like coca cola, disney, birkshire,etc...
Fund ..
Forex ..
Property ?

How is the return ?

I was taught at school long-term investment is a must for our retirement, but most of my money now goes to TOYS instead of the investment product :?

 I learned that too. Toys have a small portion of my funds, and I hope to keep it that way this year. ;]

It's an employer-sponsored defined contribution retirement plan. They have certain mutual funds or company stock you can invest in, and you contribute from your pay. Many times, the employer will match contributions. How much they match usually depends on how long you've been employed.

pretty much. I don't buy a lot of toys or buy every colorway of a figure. Sometimes you just gotta lay off and sit some out.

Your company basically give you free money. Most will match percentages. My company matches 3%. So basically i have 3% taken out of my paycheck and they put in the exact same amount of money into my 401k plan.

At what age, the money can be taken out for spending ?
And the lumpsum accumulated in the 401k would be enough for retirement ? I have no idea how big the snowball will roll at the very end

The money goes in pre-tax, so you are penalized and taxed heavily on it if it's taken out before 59 1/2. Nowadays, having only one retirement plan probably won't be enough. What you have in the end, really depends on ow much you contribute each pay period and the types of investments chosen.

I have a simple IRA, put in 3% and my company matches that. Also bought a house recently. I sometimes worry I'm not doing enough at 30 to plan for the future, but then I remember that we only have less than 5 years until the zombie robot holocaust occurs, and then I think that maybe I should stop investing altogether and just buy toys!
