Hahaha...yes. I even have a site that shows earthquakes in CA and I check it almost everytime we have one here in San Francisco just to see how strong and how far it was. I showed it to a buddy of mine who was from Michigan and he freaked out cause they don't get earthquakes out there. I had to close the browser cause he was turning a little pale from seeing how many earthquakes we get each day.

Is that the U.S. Geological Survey site? I used to check that site quite frequently when I lived in Los Angeles for the same reason...

There was only 37 by me and closest about 8 miles away.
The site is more fun to type in your buddies last names then ridicule them for having an offender in their family and show everyone they date. Its great for kicks.

Is this site real? I know there was another similar site that turned out to be a hoax:

http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/hoaxes/felonspy.asp

Things like this puzzle me, though. Why just sex offenders? I can find out the name and address of some guy across town who was arrested for public urination, but if someone next door to me murdered their entire family, I'd never know about it.

Roger, the guy in my neighborhood on the site is someone I had seen before in the local newspaper. I would hope it's not a hoax.

Portland offers all sorts of stuff that has to do with property at www.portlandmaps.com - you can find out who owns a house, what they paid, what permits they've received, complaints, crime rates, and the name/address/photo/offense of sexual offenders, and a lot of other stuff. I dunno if other cities have this stuff on-line, but it's a great resource - especially when looking to buy a house.
