We got these in as a special order and we only got 6 and let you buy one before they went up for sale to the public.
All I am saying is I wish we had just let you fight it out with everyone else since this is what became of it. Lots of people wanted this to put on there shelves.

I think there's a huge difference - the Zags are made to order, the Ojo was not. There were SO FEW Clear Ojos to begin with, and a lot of people are still trying to track one down. Did you manage to score two? I notice that you mention on your blog you'd like to be complete on Ojo...but that's gonna be especially tough now, unless you have another unpainted clear.
It's nice looking, but certainly a kick to the groin of those that want a Clear Ojo.

Glenn,
I appreciate you allowing me to purchase the Ojo. Don't get me wrong.
but to suggest that I only be allowed to purchase it if I promise not to paint it is slightly heavy handed, no?
NT, it's the same arguement raised when I had PK paint the GID Pirate. One less for the rest of you......
The fact is that either painted or clear, this Ojo and GID Pirate are not leaving my collection period and therefore not going to be yours anyways.
sooooooo customizing that GID Silver Skullwing out of the question?

It is your figure to do whatever you want to with since we sold it to you.
I just don't like being complicit in this kinda thing. It makes me feel dirty.

See this thread for further debate on this issue...
It's been said before in even another thread that "once you buy it you can do what you want with it"...not an opinion I fully agree with, but still an opinion...
The paint job is quite nice, the debate on the validity of using this particular "canvas" to apply it to is better followed up on in another forum...

Last I heard they were in production. I'd give it another couple of weeks til S7 gets them in.

Clear Zag not here yet.
And would painting the Clear Ojo be more acceptable if let's say Koji did one.
Because I distinctly remember another killer Ojo custom painted in a lovely orange.
No one seemed to have said anything about that one.

Kirkland - can you talk about why three of the scales on the back are outlined? Other than "the debate" it's the one issue I have with the paint job. Was this intentional, or did you mean to outline all of them and just haven't finished?

Your customs are always at the center of controversy...
Regardless of the origin, I think this one is really well-done in terms of technique and color choice. If you look at the Yutaka custom on his blog, it's like an inverted color version of that piece- 'dark' Ojo.
Way I look at it, if it started as a clear blank, it can always go back to being a clear blank one day if the owner should so desire.

One of your best yet, sir. nice range and blend of colors. the black mask part reminds me of Kato/GreenHornet, but only slightly.
I could understand objecting to this if the custom was wholly unlikeable, but I love this custom. I like it more than a lot of those painted for the Custom Ojo show.
but you can see from my avatar which side of the fence I'm on when it comes down to the choice: "to paint or not to paint rarer toys?"
painting rare vintage is bad; painting rare new toys that will most likely have a dozen other releases (like the ojo) doesn't make my blood boil.
kirkland, this toy rocks my tiny, inconsequential world.

I asked the same question over the weekend when we were at S7.

thanks for this question NT. my original intent was to do all of the scales in red so I tested on the inside of his arm. The more I looked it however, I thought the red outline would overpower the figure.
my compromise to bring out the detail was to outline his shoulders and chest in red. I did both inside arms in red and then I thought the three scales on the back looked cool outlined. kinda like a honeycomb.

I think the orders closed in mid march and they said..it would take 6-8 weeks. So that's probably early to mid May.

I know its off topic a little, but I'm stilling kicking myself for not ordering any clear Zags. I was waiting for some money to come through, and it did on the last day they were up but I fell asleep and missed ordering them...
