Pink Akro - New or old?
So, was this a 'partial-unpaint' from the time of the original release of the red-eye pink Akro, or is it newly released? I'd guess the latter, never having seen it in anyone's collection shots, but I'm not sure by any means ...
(pic from a recent auction_toy sale - sold as a BIN on eBay for $180)

Ah, those must be the new bubble releases that stealth mentioned. Neat.

It's actually hard to grasp the full feel of the eye due to the flash camera use... Vinyl looks amazing though.

Funny how "bubble vinyl" was considered evil in the days of vinyl LPs and 45s. Recycled Jamaican vinyl was notorious for having music-distorting bubbles in it during the days of classic Dub Reggae (although if you ask me, it was part of the stoney fun of that music.) Mori's genius was to turn bubble-prone vinyl into something that his appreciators like. A recent eBay auction claimed that there were tiny silver flakes in the greeen bubble Mutant Head. No, that's called air.

i've noticed the silver flake comment a couple of time and though i have yet to get my hands on any of the bubbles it seems like it would not be to hard to tell that there bubbles.

it's pretty obvious that they're bubbles when you have them in hand.

I kinda like the bubbly vinyl--adds texture and character.

It would be cool if there were vinyl with tiny silver particles embedded. You can buy metallic dust at Tap Plastics. It's easily mixed with liquids or resin for some cool swirly effects. I don't know much about vinyl science but assume that embedding anything would add significantly to production costs.

Yeah, and a very nice sort of translucence that differs from "clear" vinyl. The bubble vinyl looks differently under different lighting conditions. It can appear opaque with nothing but reflective light, but when light shines through it, you really see the translucence.

somehow I knew the akro would be the pink one, although I hoped for the bigaro or evil. the eye bothers me too, but this pink vinyl is too great and Ill have to track one down (hopefully). maybe Ill grow to love the eye and I hope it looks diffrent in hand.
btw - most of gargamels silver flake vinyl is partially translucent, hold one up to the light and you will see what I mean. I really like the silver flake vinyl like mini nice hair and the first sleeping killer is actually a silver flake release. I like things embeded in my vinyl.. keep 'em coming.

Thanks all - Now that I look closely at this pic, I can indeed see bubbliness, so obviously it is new. I wasn't 100% sure whether or not it was bubbly ...
Hoping S7 will be getting plenty of these ...
