Ha, hilarious. I just looked at the map and my mom probably doesnt even live 2 miles away from it.

I thought this was the place you guys were talking about. When i was in high school people would talk about going there and hanging out on Halloween. They werent doing tours or anything at the time, it was just an abandoned building at that point.

Thanks for the link Ultra_Gigan!

This is right here in Louisville and a popular spot around Halloween. They have had a couple concerts here too.

I also dig the show. Partially cause the dudes make me laugh sometimes and partially because of the subject.

I've lived in a LOT of really old houses in Chicago growing up, my grandma owned one in Logan Square (an older neighborhood now infested with aging hipsters) and everyone who's lived there in our family has had a weird experience. Most of them were drunk, so I didn't count them, but I've always been clean and have heard (clear voices) and seen (clearly) weird shit there whe I lived there a bit. Not saying I know what it was, ghost whatever, just weird. Sadly the house is now out of the family.

Post Re: Ghost Hunters
I thought there was a more generic "ghosts/hauntiing" thread sort of like the "Have you seen a UFO?" thread but was unable to find it. So figured I'd just post in here rather than making a new thread...

So, I think there's a ghost in my house. When we first moved into the house (last December) the basement door would sometimes be open when we returned home from work/shopping/etc. At the time we thought it was possible (but unlikely) that we just forgot to shut the door. We hang our jackets at the top of the stairs going down to the basement, and have to open the door to get our jackets. We always keep the door shut and locked though.
So this morning I got up and went about my morning routine, which had me walking past the basement door at least 5 times as it's in the hallway between our bedroom/bathroom and our kitchen. As I was walking back to the bedroom yet again the door was wide open. I asked my wife why she had left the door open. She said she never opened it to begin with. So somehow, while we were both awake and walking in close proximity to the door, it just opened without either of us noticing it.
Not that it's related, but last night I thought I heard a couple footsteps in our house when I was trying to fall asleep. I finally chalked them up to the house cooling off (it's ben HOT)...but they didn't sound like the typical "settling" types of pops/creaks. Also, my wife woke up in the middle of the night to what she thought was someone banging on our porch (I slept through this). She got up to check it out, fearing that someone might actually be trying to break down our screen door, but no one was there. Also, when I got up this morning our front door was unlocked...possible, but unlikely, that I forgot to lock it last night.
Ghosts interest me, as long as they're not in my house...

No, unfortunately I don't. And it's been 8 months between events, so even if I did it could be rolling for a LONG time.

Bugger! hmm, well, maybe keeping a log of events and see if there is some kind of pattern forming. Have you checked into the history of the house???

Post Re: Ghost Hunters
My wife has tried to do some searching on the house for architectual purposes. Haven't really gotten too far...about the only thing we've found is that it's listed as being built in 1904, but 1904 was the first year they started keeping records, so it's likely even older. The floor plan and exterior have definitely been modified over the years, but we think it's a Queen Anne Victorian.
I just met a neighbor the other night whose lived in the neighborhood since the 70s, so we can probably get 3 decades of history from him.

Cool place.

When I was in High School we would go all the time. It was fun messing with the guards (in their trailers).

Once we dropped acid and spent the night...that was interesting.

Now they have lame ass tours and metal concerts.
