From the article: A spokesman for OGC said: “it is not inappropriate to an organisation that’s looking to have a firm grip on Government spend.”
God bless British humor.
If you haven't already, you've *got* to view the "Disasterous logo designs" link at the top of the article for a few more howlers.

LOL... that's hilarious.
That's pretty lazy on the designer's part... you're supposed to check for things like that.

I missed that the first time through...
What the hell is up with this one?
I can't believe that someone didn't take a step back from the screen and think "Gee, this is so wrong!"

The big complaint about this one is that it looks like maggie simpson giving someone head.

Yeah, well, it created a fervor when it was unveiled.
It was meant to be hip and "down wit da kids, init" they failed to realise that the kids didn't grow up in the 80's when day glo was all the rage and Breakin 2 Electric Boogaloo was actually taken seriously.
They very nearly changed it and for a while it looked like they would buckle to public pressure, but in the end the decided it was a well spent £200k...
It sucks...

That's really going to be the 2012 logo? I find it hilarious that someone got paid for that. It looks horrible - it took me forever to figure out that those shapes were meant to be 2012!

another good story...travelers insurance dumped their red umbrella from their corporate id a while back only to realize later it was a massive icon and they paid tons of cash to get it back...dummies...
